Is there any option of a half day at Abingdon? Ive had lots of work done on the car (new purchase too) so dont want to commit to a full day if possible.
New to the area too, but want to get back to some trackdays etc

Unfortunately not, just whatever you take for yourself. Abingdon serves up tarmac, grass and sun/wind/rain*

Thanks.

I’ll take the minimum then. If it’s full wet I won’t even need to check tyre pressure, so just helmet and license. smile

Yes - weather forecast not exactly improving is it? Tarp for me to put all my stuff under. Sigh.

See the thread O started re tools. I took a beach shelter which was good for putting everything in and sheltering from the sun.

Ha. Funny. A lifeboat might have been more useful today. Will post a YouTube link once I've got the video rendered. Mildly moist it was not.

And it was nice to meet you. Just a pity us Westfielders were so wet and miserable! You would have to be very niche interest to have enjoyed that day in our vehicles.

Hopefully see you again on a dry day.

Nice video showing how wet it was and well driven in the conditions. I've been a regular at Abingdon and never known the track being closed, although on the sighting laps i was aquaplaning at 40mph on the straights sobit was the right call! I was in my Westfield and soaked through all day (despite wearing an all in one motorbike suit and second set of waterproofs underneath!) I had a ball and was really able to practice driving on the limit in the wet - i was the Westfield coming past on your last lap! For reference tyres are new this year Avon ZZS's coping with a 270HP Duratec and 500HP/ Tonne. I think they have improved the compound as they are better than the original set i had. May see you at another Abingdon day. Simon

Cheers Simon. Had I not run out of electricity I was definitely heading down your way. I'd seen you at a distance and thought it was my old Caterham.

Good to know the ZZS works in those conditions. They guy in the Megane next to me had R888 and went home after sighting! To be honest, there are very few places better to be than Abingdon on a wet day in my view.

I'll be back on the 9th August. The new alternator arrives today.

I'll be there with aeroscreen and no roof smile

Actually the hourly forecast is now showing heavy rain overnight but no rain after 9 am so it could be dry by the time we get on track. The wind may provide a challenge too

A bit belated, but cracking day. My misfire got worse and worse, but even so, I had a cracking day and met a bunch of nice guys, so there was good banter in the pits too. Any day were I see a McLaren, a Bowler and a Fiesta with VTEC is a good day...

yup I 'll be there in my Twingo for day 3 of the 100 hour track challenge. I need to do 5 hours on track, I am hoping it will be wet.
