Anyone heading over for the CD event start of July?
Yep I'm there for CD on Jul 1st and also doing the RSR trackday at Spa for the first time on Jun 29th. I usually do one of the DN doubles at the Ring but this year due to a house move and carrying over days from Covid it's a Spa/Ring combo instead...can't wait!RSbandit said:

I'm gutted that I didn't spot the RSR Spa day before it was fully booked. Instead I'm just doing the CD event.
Yeah I carried it over the RSR day from last year so the timing worked well..I originally booked a CD double in Jan 2020 only getting around to using the first of them this year...hopefully all the covid travel restriction nonsense is now a distant memory.Florida_Man said:
I’ll be at the ring over August bank holiday weekend. DTM is racing on the GP track same weekend.
Does anyone know if that means we will be sent through the old pit lane at t13
Could well be, trying to rack my brains if they did last year?Does anyone know if that means we will be sent through the old pit lane at t13
There was an event last year when we went via the old pits but can’t for the life of me remember the details.

I hired a car for the first time on Monday, I'd throughly recommend it. Great fun hooning in someone else's car with zero f's given. RingFreaks were a good outfit.
Is it really zero F's given? What are the penalties/ Excess if you crash it?
I'm genuinely interested as i've just come back from the ring myself last weekend and I was driving my own Porsche 986 around the track, I loved it but then there's always the thought if I crash it i'm in trouble, thankfully it was solid throughout and no incidents. I may hire something for a few laps next time i'm there.

Having read this thread it prompted me to go and look at the Ring Freaks website and Rent 4 Ring,
I'm tempted to hire the Golf GTI Ringfreaks have next time I go over there for certainly a couple of laps or maybe the 325i.
Having looked at Rent 4 Ring and Ring Freaks I think Ringfreaks have the better car options for not a lot of extra money in the grand scheme of things.

Here's a photo for absolutely no reason ...........
With hiring, I found the RingFreaks car superbly set up and very robust. Of course, I still drove with appropriate mechanical sympathy but things like tyre pressures and other checks were just disregarded for the day (and the RingFreaks chap was on hand all day and very chilled).
The total excess was €12k (this is more than the €6k for TF) but for that I had absolutely nothing more to worry nor any further risks. Tyre wear, brake wear, forget it.
The only downside is a 245hp Golf is probably a lot slower than you're use to but driving a slow car at 100% has a certain charm to it.
HTH.
Looking forward to my Spa and Ring double next week hope the weather plays ball! I noticed on the Eurotunnel that they still expect an upload of vaccine passport pre departure...I was under the impression that all of that nonsense had been dropped...any other rules In Germany /Belgium that are still lingering (masks etc)?

France still require it (or did 3 weeks ago). RSbandit said:

There is talk in Germany of masks returning. Not sure of any proposed details. doogalman said:
