Will do Roy...my 570s decided it didn't want to go this time threw up a transmission error on Sat..it had a pre Track day inspection done only last week and all was clear on the diagnostic health check...got the car back to them early this morning but they couldn't get the part at such short notice (expected ofc)...seriously annoying. I'll be hiring something for both days now probably a RS Megane as I've heard good things about them.
Not long back from our first trip. We got the ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam. Then it was only a 4 hour drive to Adenau. Pretty boring route but fast and efficient. Quite surreal crossing into Germany and the road restrictions lifting from 100 km/h to unrestricted.
It was a bit of a heatwave when we were there, 30 degrees but the track obviously nice and dry the whole time. Two of the three cars didn’t have working aircon however .
Absolutely loved the vibe of the whole area. Interesting cars everywhere you looked. Will definitely be back.

Lovely looking car that. Perfect for the 'Ring.
Cheers. Annoyingly I bought it too soon before going and couldn’t get some parts fitted in time. So the front suspension/ steering had a bit of play in it. Car came with brand new Rainsport tyres which are pretty terrible on track also. Plenty to sort for next time anyway! Gilhooligan said:

Weather was perfect yday however the muppet count was way above avg…worst day I’ve been on here ever tbh. Multiple crashes, 2 red flags with over 2 hours track time lost probably could have been more reds but at least the organiser tried to keep the track open while cleaning up other crashes. However this meant that getting a clean lap with no slow zones was v hard. You had other morons overtaking on yellows and double yellows…Overtaking on the wrong side also. From what I could see a lot of that nonsense was from UK cars too …I really think the in person briefing needs to come back to maybe emphasis things more and a zero tolerance approach to anyone overtaking on a double yellow. I still have a credit to use with CD but from yesterdays experience DN days seem better run with much higher driving standards on display.

I was lucky to be going down DH at exactly 8:30 and managed a clean lap right from the offHowever, the track was compromised shortly afterwards, which in a way I didn't mind, because it should have prevented people going for PBs
I could not agree more about track etiquette, fortunately I didn't witness anything dreadful, but zero tolerance - absolutely yes
If a marshal gets killed or seriously injured on a track day, that will change everything
To balance the debate, having worked on every organised type of trackday at the Ring. Bad driver (read that as dangerous) find their way onto every track event. Some organisers are very pro-active some are not. Personally all the British run days, safety is very much of great importance as no one wants the idiots on their events. Often there is two sides to an incident that may prompt someone to complain ASAP on the day. That way we or the team working the pitlane will Greg the offender and either have strong words or worse case scenario exclude the driver and or car from the day. Ask me how I know, well it’s because I have regularly been in the fortunate position to carry out the punishment.
Circuit days are more than happy to deal with issues and any reported drivers on Friday were spoken to and required to then follow the rules or they could go home. As far as I/we on the day we’re aware those hauled over the coals did not carry on with their behavior.
Zero tolerance can work but as I said earlier there is always two sides and one guys misinterpretation of others skills level could haze the situation.
Anyway when I was on track all the drivers looked to be having a great day. Sorry for the people who ended up on the back of a truck but sadly that’s the game we are in.

Well I thought it was a great day. Were a few heroes adamant on not letting a stty Clio passed, but it is what it is.
Isn’t worth getting upset over.
The CD team/Marshalls did a great job of keeping the track open whilst cars were recovered and areas cleaned up.
Pictures were also much better this time, with the added bonus of having a few snaps from Claire on Racetracker.

Last weeks CD trackday was my first at the 'ring. I found it much better than TF sessions and I really enjoyed myself. I found the whole sighting lap situation very odd, I entered circuit at 08:27 and at 08:30 I met some cars going very slowly and not overtaking each other, this caused some confusion as I thought at 08:30 the track went 'live'. I proceeded to overtake and then a few others broke out the chain and proceeded to follow. I have no idea if this was within the rules, as I interrupted them it was and I had no feedback to say otherwise. This seemed like a needless complication and added risk.
I also thought the marshaling was a bit odd, twice I came across a yellow flag but never saw the incident or green flag and subsequently drove much of the track slowly whilst being overtaken (I had a passenger as a second set of eyes who saw nothing). After this I saw a yellow flag waving on the run up to the Karussell, I then saw nothing until I arrived at Hohe Acht where a recovery truck was sat in the access road. To me that is a very long way between flag and incident and I was overtake by multiple cars in that distance.
The red flags were very annoying but that's life.
So far I am very disappointed with the pictures, they are barely any of me or my party and the pictures that are up are lacking quality.
Overall though I had a superb time and I'm gagging to get back for another trackday!

Just a few things I can possibly add to this. It’s always a complete cluster fk on the end of the sighting laps. No matter how many times they say it, nor how the briefing is done, no one listens.
Just gotta do your own thing and be prepared that people are gonna do silly things.
The yellow from the K was confusing. I was out at the same time, and part of the issue is because of where the Marshall points are…. That’s why the distance was so great.
Coming round the final time, there was actually another car had stopped behind the barrier after the recovery truck had taken away the original car which caused the yellow.
One thing I did just remember which was a bit ropey for me, coming through left kink after Ex-Mühle only to be greeted by the recovery truck and 2 marshal cars, followed by a green flag at Bergwerk….
I had no prior warning of this, with there being no flags before the incident.
Scary given I’m pretty sure that’s a similar place on the track where that lad in the MX5 crashed and passed on TF last year after hitting the recovery truck.

To clarify, someone died crashing into a recovery truck during TF? Jeez. If so then surely some party was surely negligent there?Olivera said:

Indeed. Last yearhttps://www.carthrottle.com/post/tragic-10-vehicle...
He was very well known throughout the community. Very sad, and not a nice way to go at all.
I should clarify I still enjoyed the day and had a lot of fun in the car I hired but the actions of some participants left a lot to be desired. Obviously glad no one was hurt in the numerous incidents but it takes some doing to have the track closed for pretty much the first hour and then on the very first lap after restart some guy goes out and spills it in the first 3km!
I still have a credit from 2020 so might look to finally use that up with the CD October event leaving a clean slate for next yr.
And as someone mentioned above the photos aren’t great and not that many of them either…not quite Frozenspeed!
