I have the st tyres that came with the car when I bought it (toyo proxes) so if its wet I am sure it will be shocking

I am basically setting a standard with the car as it is so that I can appreciate all the upgrades as I do them smile

Although the most significant upgrade is probably going to need to be the driver
I had Toyo Proxes on my 172 Clio for a while but had to get rid of them as they were fking lethal in the wet with lift off oversteer aplenty biggrin Just take it steady if it's raining! I swapped them for Michelin PS3s and they were ace in comparison.

I don't find Proxes too bad. A bit pressure sensitive. Aggressive road tyres will be miles ahead of say R888 in really wet weather. You'll learn loads about handling in the wet too. And it's kinder on the car.

Jealous. I'm nowhere near ready to go on track yet. Lots of spannering still required.

Yeah looks like it will be raining and horrible but as you say maybe that is a good learning opportunity and an excuse to take it easier.

It looks as though the afternoon might be okay (ie. not p1ssing it down). I always find late afternoon to be the best time anyway. Many people tend to leave after lunch and so you get a much clearer track - great if you're fast (something I have yet to experience) but also less moving aside if you're slow

Another good day at Abingdon last week, it's so much fun as I can turn everything off and not have to worry about hitting anything!

Got black flagged early on after I'd hit some standing water mid-skid and spun. I forgot about the spin and in policy!

The silver and blue Meganes were seriously quick in the monsoon like conditions!

I bought the photos but wouldn't bother again. Mostly out of focus!

Rear tyres are toast now, need new ones. Aiming to be back next month.

I've optimistically booked again for 27 march.

Hopefully as it's in cars on a racetrack it still counts as social distancing 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Does anyone have the ability (local to Oxford / Witney), to test the noise of my car? Quite tempted to blow out some cobwebs at Abingdon on the 27th March but unsure how loud it is (MR2 with a 2zz engine conversion)

alternatively are the phone apps reliable?

Friend has an MR2 2zz-swap and will be there and is just under the limit (100dB) but makes sure its well warmed up and has a muffler available.

You could always come along on the day and I'm sure they'd test you even if not signed up so you know for future... I'm guessing they'd take payment on the day if they have any cancellations.

And he says stock exhaust would be around 89dB so depends what pipes you have on there.

Good idea, I'll try that.

March and April events cancelled. They hope to run in May but it could be a forlorn hope. frown

I’ll be there.. I just done the online signing on process and watched the video. Should make the process smoother in the morning I reckon

I'll be there in my Z4M after May got cancelled!

Don't forget the briefing shouldn't be done earlier than 48 hours before the day otherwise you'll likely have to do it again wink

Shame all the tuitions been cancelled frown Not been before so has anyone got any track specific tips?

Yeah I realised the 48 hour thing after I’d done it.. I did ring them after they said it was fine and just advisory to do 48 hrs before. First time at Abingdon to for me
