Well the prices are not far off what the more expensive TDO's were quoting, so not too bad. If they prevent testing engine and experience companies booking slots then it might work out better for amateurs. One day I went on to Silverstone last year was spoiled by race teams obviously testing. They had telemetry rigs on show in the garages and it was pretty blatant!
Hi Henry, All well? Silverstone 2022 direct days number only 12, Goldtrack have no Silverstone days nor do the other operators who have published their programmes. There must be more SS days becoming available? Porsche still have their option on all free days so probably not being leased out for manufacturers days.
Silverstone is my local circuit, and I really enjoy the GP layout. However it is expensive, so don’t do it often. The National circuit isn’t nearly as good.
I’m annoyed I had to withdraw from the Lotus on Track event in November (engine went bang and needs a full rebuild).
I have been on the events run by Silverstone, and they are well run, so this won’t put me off.

Having driven many laps of the Grand Prix circuit which is one I really enjoy it is a great shame that it is now off limits for track days in my Radical SR3. Living in the south east it doesn’t leave much other than Brands within a reasonable journey. Hopefully Silverstone will look at providing some days where we can still enjoy the challenges of a great circuit.

Do you mean it’s off limits to Radicals or that prices have/will go up too much?I’ve just booked a day on the Silverstone GP circuit in November 2022 with Lotus-On-Track, so it appears there are still some days available from 3rd party organisers.
I’ve never been there, and I feel like it’s a circuit I should definitely drive at least once. LoT only have days in March and November so the weather is a gamble, but I couldn’t really justify £550 direct with Silverstone in the middle of summer.

Silverstone themselves and Pirelli appear to have some upcoming trackdays lined up - https://www.trackday-hub.com/
The Pirelli days? seriously expensive £850 per car and you have to have an "approved car".

However Pirelli do bring a nice selection of exotica that participants can book on to try, think of it more as a well run experience day where you can also take your car on track rather than a conventional trackday.

Yes it is off limits to Radicals unless you go on a test day which is very expensive and for which you need a racing license.
Its a shame, I used to use RMA for Silverstone days. The Radical is so epic at Silverstone. But yet you'll still be allowed to take a tin top GT3 race car on track which will lap the same time as a Radical, makes no sense. Silverstone have a promotional code on at the moment for everyone to use so it might help you guys on this thread.
LOYALTY20
Valild till end of Feb.
enter that and you get 20% off so £400 odd for the GP track in Summer is pretty good. I've booked July 13th.
Also there with Lotus On Track in March for a bargain £250 odd.

I participated in the track day at Silverstone yesterday.
It was probably one of the best track days I have been on in 30 years. There were 50 cars entered and the track was never busy, I got some serious laps in without coming across anyone else on track. Now I think that’s because of the price but in any case Silverstone weren’t trying to Javelin it by getting hundreds to attend.
I got a free garage just for turning up, free breakfast and the briefing was everything an MSE briefing was not. Informal, laid back and quick.
Credit where it is due, they did well. I managed about 80 laps on the day with no poor driving from anyone and very few red flags.
Recommended
Also forgot to mention, no sighting laps! Circuit went green at 9 and off you go. Worked quite well.

Hmm I think you got lucky with time of year and the fact Silverstone aren't great at advertising their own days.It was probably one of the best track days I have been on in 30 years. I did a Silverstone run day last year and there were 110 cars signed on and it was busy on track with multiple red flags.

110 cars? That's insane. I'm booked in May and think it was 600 quid. I'll be seriously fecked off if there are that many cars there at that price.I did a Silverstone run day last year and there were 110 cars signed on and it was busy on track with multiple red flags.

110 cars isn’t a mad amount for the GP layout, you can run 80 cars at Oulton with no queues.
Silverstone has always been a muppet-magnet however so red flags and poor driving standards are not unusual irrespective of numbers
Certainly not my experience of either numbers or muppets at dozens of Goldtrack and RMA days at Silverstone over the years. (Or maybe I'm one of the muppets Silverstone has always been a muppet-magnet however so red flags and poor driving standards are not unusual irrespective of numbers
