Was a superb day!! Hope that me and my mate stayed out of everyones way!!

Ended up sharing the car with my mate.

After my rather, erm, exploritary moring session, I calmed down and drove it properly in the afternoon biggrin
Hi Matt,

I missed this tread totally, if id seen it I would have come down and taken some some bad photos of you driving badly laugh

Seriously, I hope you had a good day out there, its a great circuit to drive as you well know. Seems a pity it was tainted by some ungentlemanly driving.

I agree with you that it is one of the more dangerous overtaking points Howard but I wouldn't go for a blanket ban on overtaking in that section or at least not on the run towards it which is what you would have to do to make a ban work. A warning in the briefing of the risks there would probably be worthwhile but it's never going to stop the kind of clown that clips a car in the morning and then carries on driving like a c0ck in the afternoon.

Black flag and ban is the only solution for some people, you just have to hope it gets spotted and sorted before any actual incidents occur.

No, I didn't specify a total ban on overtaking in that section, but what I'm saying is that the normal overtaking rule should be enforced, moreso than perhaps at other sections of the circuit. A slower car at that point will be at something between 80 & 90mph, with a faster car around 100 to 120mph. The closing speed between the two extremes is considerable, but at the same time, both vehicles would be fully committed, with the driver of the slower car, totally unaware that he is going to have his line occupied by a 400hp "missile". Hope this clarifies my point. Howard

Yep, can't argue with that Howard.

As has been said by all of us on this point, consent is everything, especially on the sections where it's been proven that things can go wrong.

I think TDO's should emphasise much more the need to use indicators as a signal to mean consent has been given.

Hi Paul,

Yes, you are right & unfortunately as time goes by, "common sense" will be a unacceptable phrase, I think.

we look forward to seeing you up in the wastelands on teesside soon,

best regards, howard
