He did not take long to get right on the pace, did he?
Not at all. Quite amazing how he can hop out of a KTM X Bow into the CSL and instantly get a feel for it. His first lap was about he same pace as my fastest, and he reckoned he'd be 15s quicker on lap 2!![thumbup](/inc/images/thumbup.gif)

I’ve not been to the ring for around 20 years but do they still do these taxis? If so does anyone know if they seat 4 passengers as the mrs and kids won’t want to miss out.
I think to take your own car round was €15 but no doubt it’s much more now does anyone know the cost?
But the fast laps in the taxi are what I really want to experience.

It’s about 30 Euro a lap now. All info on the Nurburgring website.I think to take your own car round was €15 but no doubt it’s much more now does anyone know the cost?

I think the most passengers in a Ring taxi is three, plus the driver. Check out Ringtaxi or Apex Nurburgring websites.
Toying with the idea of a trip to the ring for the first time in a few weeks. Would be setting off from Glasgow, anyone got any advice about the easiest route to take or rough recommendation of where to stop overnight either on the way there or whilst at the ring?
Just looking to head over, do a few laps in my own car and a taxi lap or two. Visit the museum and other things dotted around the circuit and maybe post up and watch some cars going round for a while.

For the easiest route, I'd just check Google Maps for a general route and use Waze on the day itself. The drive down from the UK isn't exactly littered with scenic roads until you get near the Ring itself, so you're best off just following the path of least resistance.Just looking to head over, do a few laps in my own car and a taxi lap or two. As for stopping overnight, Glasgow to Folkstone is a decent schlep and there are a couple of budget hotels near the train terminal.

We normally overnight it at the Premier Inn at Ashford Eureka Leisure Park (J9 M20)...and means we can go to the Tesco at the next junction to fill up with fuel/butties/drink/sweets...then a 10 minute drive to Eurotunnel, or 25 minute drive to Dover. As for stopping overnight, Glasgow to Folkstone is a decent schlep and there are a couple of budget hotels near the train terminal.
I'm not sure there'd be much difference in journey times between M6 and M1 routes south...so it may just depend on road conditions/closures...and the risk of unforeseen delays is one of the reasons we stay close to the train/ferry terminals overnight...the other was because we have people coming from 4 different parts of the country (Sunderland, Cornwall, Oxford and Liverpool) and it's easier to meet up at a single, closer location.
