I’ve noticed the hull ferries prices are wayyyyyy higher than they used to be pre covid.
Can’t find any deals either, not that there were any for non foot passengers on a day return etc, but they really do seem to have hiked it up.
They are definitely higher than they were. Especially with a trailer. Can’t find any deals either, not that there were any for non foot passengers on a day return etc, but they really do seem to have hiked it up.
I've spent more on ferry crossings than trackdays this year

Toying with the idea of a trip to the ring for the first time in a few weeks. Would be setting off from Glasgow, anyone got any advice about the easiest route to take or rough recommendation of where to stop overnight either on the way there or whilst at the ring?
Just looking to head over, do a few laps in my own car and a taxi lap or two. Visit the museum and other things dotted around the circuit and maybe post up and watch some cars going round for a while.
For the easiest route, I'd just check Google Maps for a general route and use Waze on the day itself. The drive down from the UK isn't exactly littered with scenic roads until you get near the Ring itself, so you're best off just following the path of least resistance.Just looking to head over, do a few laps in my own car and a taxi lap or two. As for stopping overnight, Glasgow to Folkstone is a decent schlep and there are a couple of budget hotels near the train terminal.
Seeing Eau Rouge is awe inspiring. You can normally get in free, unless there is a bug race event. Even so, you can get good glimpses form outside the circuit.

On the subject of routes, a visit to Spa Francorchamps, en route to the ‘Ring is almost mandatory for any petrolhead. It is not out of the way and routes you into Nurburg via some really nice roads.

I actually did this the other way around. We were at Spa for the Spring Classic last month and hadn’t realised just how close the Ring was - about 1 hours and 50 minutes only. So we went on the Saturday afternoon.Seeing Eau Rouge is awe inspiring. You can normally get in free, unless there is a bug race event. Even so, you can get good glimpses form outside the circuit.
We didn’t go around the track but had a look around the visitor centre and, of course, had to have a steak for tea.

I'm just a Southern Softie, so my one way in ten days time is only £80
But you did have me worried for a moment
Not if you are towing & it's peak & you want Tunnel its not! Crossed twice this week at £550 a pop. Well actually one was £555 & the other £552 & was a £183 surcharge on an earlier day return so £1290 for 2x returns! But you did have me worried for a moment
Have a look for towing for the 'ringmeisters dates, depending what days you want circa £700-£820 for Tunnel

I've not paid to get in to the bug event, but you don't have to, you can usually have fun watching from either Les Combes, or the kart track if you happen to be passing byhttps://www.vwbugshow.be/en/

I did a DIY car recovery several years ago when I suffered a gearbox failure, even on the ferry the cost was scaryHave a look for towing for the 'ringmeisters dates, depending what days you want circa £700-£820 for Tunnel
Last year I drove back twice without a working starter motor, and the guys on Eurotunnel were absolutely brilliant
However Eurotunnel prices seem to have gone mad now, so I'm sticking to the ferry this year

I’ve not been to the ring for around 20 years but do they still do these taxis? If so does anyone know if they seat 4 passengers as the mrs and kids won’t want to miss out.
I think to take your own car round was €15 but no doubt it’s much more now does anyone know the cost?
But the fast laps in the taxi are what I really want to experience.
It’s about 30 Euro a lap now. All info on the Nurburgring website.I think to take your own car round was €15 but no doubt it’s much more now does anyone know the cost?

I think the most passengers in a Ring taxi is three, plus the driver. Check out Ringtaxi or Apex Nurburgring websites.
Looking forward to my trips this year, out early August for a Spa trackday followed by a Nurburgring Trackday 2 days later then leaving the car there and heading back out a week later for some TF laps and introducing my lad to the place.

Yep I’ll be there for my first Trackday in the 600LT Spider (not my first Trackday ever!) …Im always a little nervous when taking a new car round there for the first time but I spend months anticipating the trip and then when it’s over I’m usually relieved but also a little deflated that the next trip is 12 months away !
