Webcam shows lots of snow this morning, so now I don't feel so bad.

I went to the RMA trip during the GP Friday last year, and it was great. As noted above, the only concession was that we had to drive slow through T13, but then everything else was fine. It was fun to drive the Ring with the wail of F1 cars in the background, and the F1 fans were blowing their air horns at us and taking our pictures as we drove past - it was pretty amusing. We were given free tickets to the F1 practice as well (worth a quick look). This year, we can get tickets to qualifying and the race. I'm looking forward to it, and I'd recommend it.

Judging from the temperature here today, I wouldn't imagine that much is melting in the Eifel. Brrrrr.

I've moved my booking onto May.

I've been on the track before when we've been diverted via the old pits and it's no hassle, afterall it's not like you are timing the lap, or are going fast round that section anyway.

I'm really pleased it was cancelled, as I was sure it was going to be snow-covered as that was what the weather projections were for. However, lets be clear, it was the ring management that cancelled it and their reason was the damage to the track (caused by winter frost) that required repair, before they were willing to let the track be used. RMA had called the event as being on last Thursday, their view was that that the snow would clearup (which I disagreed with).

The track looks clear on the Web cam now and the sun is shining, so we probably would have got onto the track - oh well!

I agree with others that last year's May trip was really good (apart from the heat - 30C and no a/c!). The trip through the T13 pits just made it a bit more special and the rest of the track was empty - bliss

Just got back from the ring....

Me and a few mates decided to go out there for a road trip anyway.

There is no way on gods earth that the trackday would have gone ahead, large sections of the track were
completely covered in inches of snow.

The webcam doesn't show the whole picture.

Even, if the track was to be cleared, the wet surfact would have become sheet ice in the -3c conditions out there, then there's would
be the small matter of lying snow on the side of the track if anyone had the misfortune to mke a little
detour somewhere.

How on earth they thought it was going to go ahead is beyond me ????!!!

Had a lttle detour via Spa on the way back, Eau Rouge in 4 inches of Snow anyone ??????

Yeo, I was lucky enough to be driven around for a couple laps by a PHer and one by his rather more flamboyant sidekick. Thanks guys, that was fun.

Couldn't buy a JK today as the "technic" apparently was not sorted yet...

hi lads still out at the ring watching race testing in blue skies.

look at the link on gvk quote on the rma trip, we were on track and it was dry almost every where with a good helping of salt for grip in the damp patches. you can see some good pics of me sp and r clark.

and look behind the blonde (no. one pic) wonder whose cars they are.

it is amasing how much the weather can change in four days and lucky we came here.

i will shut it now and go on watching the cars
