So I am sure everyone is pretty fed up with all the news reports about vuvuzelas, but it got me thinking. One report said they produced 130dB, e.g. effing loud.

There's lots of reports about tracks not being allowed to operate because of noise emitted, I think Bedford and Thruxton have some of the harshest conditions enforced on them by the local authorities.

Question is, do the same kind of restrictions apply to football stadiums (stadia?) and other sporting fixtures? I can see lots of people bringing vuvuzelas to football games now, which would make them much louder than track days.

Can someone explain to me why one is allowed and the other not?

I head that too. No details of how it was measured though, which renders it complete bks.
I bet it's louder than a Radical or Caterham R500 at full chat though, which is kind of the point.
