Reed Recruitment..
Discussion
Reed carried out all the referencing for me and my fellow graduates joining on a graduate scheme this September (and for a summer internship) and they were completely useless. In fact, worse than useless. It was ridiculous. Just under half the interns couldn't start work on the correct day as Reed completely screwed up the referencing process
Never heard a good word said about them.
I have eprsonal experience of them misleading me and from what I understand they have a high staff turnover like many recruit consultant type places. Infact my guy left halfway through my dealings with the, and that was one of the things they lied to me about.

Interesting replies, is it a case of like any other sales type role if your missing your targets all the time then it's not worth you being kept on by the company or is it a case of the targets being over the top and people expected to pull off wonders??
Graduate positions will be difficult in any major sales role if you haven't got previous sales experience and a thick skin. I guess I'm just trying to find out if anyone has managed to have a decent span with them!

Ah recruitment - its all about Shiny suits, pointy shoes, hair product and new minis.
Having just been through the employment-seeking mill ( and ended up getting a job by applying direct to a firm rather than going through a recruiter ) the evidence I have seen leads me to the conclusion that the recruitment industry is where estate agents go when they fancy a career change.

Used to use agencies to supply my company with temps, Reed were awful.
I've worked in recruitment for 7 years now as a consultant and have heard horror stories from ex employees about how they're target driven in a bad way. Don't hit your call targets / invoice targets etc and you will be on a slippery slope out the door very quickly.
I wouldn't work for them, other agencies are much more progressive and provide training, morale and focus for targets and help you to do well.

As far as candidates go its purely sales as your selling their attributes, clients however there is a bit more of a consultative approach as you need to do your homework and find them suitable people. Having experienced recruitment from the other side in other words searching for work I've got a good idea of what I would do differently to some of the consultants I've used in the past.

Now get back to reading The Sun, smoking Mayfair, and generally being a builder, coz that's basically all you do from what I can see
So which are you? Estate agent or recruitment consultant? Never mind, it doesn't really matter, and neither does your opinion of me, when one thinks about it. Now get back to reading The Sun, smoking Mayfair, and generally being a builder, coz that's basically all you do from what I can see
Drop it now?
