Enlightened global organisation.......
They do not care where i am, as long as the work is done.
Yes, I've worked for a similarly enlightened global organisation for over 7 years - 5 of those from home. Then moved to an extremely progressive consultancy which was like the stone age, anyone who worked from home was treated like a skiving pariah....They do not care where i am, as long as the work is done.

Are you self employed ? or have you lucked out and managed to find an enlightened employer that isn't stuck in the stone age ?
Enlightened employer in my case. Are you self employed ? or have you lucked out and managed to find an enlightened employer that isn't stuck in the stone age ?
We're a small company and we are dotted around Europe. We can live wherever we like because there's no one place in the world that's ideally located for client visits.
I only see my boss/colleagues perhaps 4 times a year unless we're visiting the same client or maybe at a conference. Similarly to what someone else said earlier in this thread, meeting up with boss and colleagues just seems to involve getting very drunk.

If you want to make money, it is London.
If you want lifestyle plus good business, it is Munich.
What a bizarre notion in the context of this thread. If you want lifestyle plus good business, it is Munich.
Why you would chose to live in one of the worlds costliest cities (and the antithesis of what those on this thread are seeking - sun, sea, quality of life), is beyond me.
Bill London rates, live in S of France, Spain, Balearics, Italy etc.

I went self-employed, partly driven by the fact the only way I could live life the way I wanted in such an archaic industry, was by leaving PAYE and set up by myself. I work in the legal field and its very much bums on seats, notwithstanding the fact that 99% of work is by phone (including Court hearings under 1 hour) or by email. Are you self employed ? or have you lucked out and managed to find an enlightened employer that isn't stuck in the stone age ?

That's it in a nutshell. It's exactly what we do.
Except I live in Yorkshire because it's the best place on the planet.

what are these awesome jobs that allow this kind of lifestyle?
Global IT or consultancies tend to be well connected, don't have a "must be in office" culture and flexible on location. Much more outcome measured than activity measured. Lots of my peers are dotted around the world. We still work silly hours, but it is more home/remote.
