Trainee train drivers wanted...
Discussion
With Arriva now runnuing the Northern franchise , keep an eye on their recruitment. One commitment in the franchise deal was was a promise of 2000 trains a day, for that to happen they need 450 new drivers over the next 5 years. I understand 80 to be recruited this year.

Bit of a thread resurrection, but I’ve just had an email from East Midland trains to say that I have been shortlisted for a trainee driver position, and that the next steps include some tests and assessments.
Does anyone have any experiences they could share about what to expect from the tests etc?
Thanks![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

They'll send you a practise pack-use it. Don't bother buying various self help books-it'll be a waste.Does anyone have any experiences they could share about what to expect from the tests etc?
Thanks

Good luck with the applications, just bear in mind it's a very competitive place applying for a job as a train driver & bear in mind it's usually a long drawn out process.
So being patient is essential & read up as much you can on the railforums plus research the TOC, the HR dept like you being proactive
