Maintenance and insurance is most of it, as it’s in a 200 year-old grade-1 listed building.

I’m in the board of the building, so arrange the insurance and maintenance. It’s the right price for what we are getting. Old buildings, even ones built as solidly as this one are expensive.edit: theres plenty of people being taken for a ride like you https://www.theguardian.com/money/2017/sep/01/serv...

It’s a nice building, in a good location.

I must admit. That does have a lot more of a feeling than the modern boxes everywhere. It’s a nice building, in a good location.

My craziest ratio of cars to wage was probably when I had a z4m I think that was slightly over what my annual salary was at the time but bear in mind this was in the days before PCP. All the lads I used to work with thought I was a drug dealer. With 2 of us working and no kids and a small mortgage we were living the dream at that time (2009). We did however have to sell it as I'd impregnated the wife during the one road trip we managed in it
Fair play to anyone that wants one so badly they are willing to make these sacrifices though its good to have a reward for your efforts.
These days with PCP and manufacturers like Ferrari doing 7 years servicing free they can be frighteningly accessible. The peak PCP years are behind us for the moment though as finance companies have pretty much stopped self cert and are putting ever more checks in place. This coupled with the over pricing of new cars and move away from traditional engines I to the Supercar game is at the start of what will be a long decline.
For me it is a wonderful measure of a petrolhead - you are willing to spend a massive amount of your annual income on cars for what you love. Of course there are many petrolheads who can afford it easily but lots of the people I know who do some racing are not doing it with open chequebooks. They make sacrifices to make these dreams come true. Fair play to anyone that wants one so badly they are willing to make these sacrifices though its good to have a reward for your efforts.

Over 5000 rooms in London for £550 or less and that’s just on one site.

I’m not happy with the service charge mind. It’s an awful lot of money to lay out each year, but it is what it is, there’s nothing to b done about it
So its an expensive building so a significant insurance cost....whats the split of insurance/maintenance? I'd pay it of course, if I could easily afford.bobbysmithy said:

I think insurance is over half of the total bill, it’s gone up a lot in recent years.Maintenance is a bit hard to judge, as there’s a significant sinking fund for the big jobs if and when they come up.

Know that building I'm not far away from there just around South Quay...you have parking for the 650s there? Maintenance is a bit hard to judge, as there’s a significant sinking fund for the big jobs if and when they come up.
So the conclusion is its all relative and salary doesnt effect being able to buy a supercar.
You could be on big bucks with a big bonus, be a director of your own successful business, inherit money, live as a hermit on a relatively small income but save a chunk of money a month, have no kids, have been buying cars for 15 or 20 years and gradually built your way up in equity on those cars or be on a finance deal with x amount per month that person is able and happy to pay.
Basically many different ways.
I must admit im trying to find a way into a modest supercar. You do only live once and to read that all ice cars will stop production in just 10 years in this country makes me want to work even harder than i already do

Well ours is £510 a month, my in-laws is around £1800 so ours is tiny in comparison!
It’s a tiny mortgage. You couldn’t rent a room in London for 550.
