What are peoples thoughts on the borderline sexism in that ad?
At least its honest. Let's face it, if they want to discriminate, they'll find a way. I'm pretty sure I've been discriminated against a few times. If they'd put in the job advert what they were really looking for at least I'd have known not to waste hours on end researching the company and role and then preparing a bespoke CV and covering letter when I was never going to get a look in whatever I did.Chicken Chaser said:

All being well I start with Northern in January.
Can't wait and could come at a better time. I'd all but given up on the "talent pool" do for those still in that situation, stick with it.
Excellent. Driver? Where will you be based out of?Can't wait and could come at a better time. I'd all but given up on the "talent pool" do for those still in that situation, stick with it.
Just the medical to get through.

Medical is just a formality.
Eye sight test, hearing test sat in a little box pressing a button when you hear noises, ECG test, urine sample.
Can't be anymore stringent that an Army medical, although I was a fair few years younger when I did that one.

Finally getting in a cab next week and training properly
My training course (6 weeks) ended in the middle of March. It’s been a while

I’ve recently finished my first year being fully qualified and it has flown by.

More nerve wracking than the interviews with it all being out of your hands.

Nice one, like you I was ex forces and on my medical I initially failed the hearing test which was the only bit I had concerns about. I then had a 2 hour wait for another slot in a different booth as they thought the equipment was faulty.More nerve wracking than the interviews with it all being out of your hands.
That was probably the longest 2 hours of my life thinking I had failed at the final hurdle.

Good old Stacker, a true Saltley Seagull
About ten years later another SY driver went through the blocks with a Peak and hit the bridge where Saltley station used to be.
I’m sure I’ve got a picture of that one somewhere.About ten years later another SY driver went through the blocks with a Peak and hit the bridge where Saltley station used to be.
