Why did you get made redundant?
You know this whole recession thing ...

In case you were serious: essentially they decided that one person could do the work of two people, and so got rid of the more expensive person. Ironically, the person they kept is now on maternity leave so being paid to not be in the office, and I still have my old clients. Didn't really worked out as they had planned.

I was serious. They certainly did owe you an apology.

Whilst it stung at the time, I'd rather have the clients now than an apology and thanks then. I'm a firm believer in "what goes around comes around" and karma has well and truly bitten them on the backside.

I've never looked back - in many respects it was the best thing that could have happened to me, it just didn't feel like it at the time.

Ask them. They probably want to slip away quietly.

To be honest if I'd been laid off and was unemployed, if someone stood up and made a speech thanking me for all my hard work I'd fking chin the .
That thought hadn't occurred to me until now.. Would make for an interesting exit interview, though not sure about the results on the severance package..

When I was made redundant a few years ago I left the company with the same tone as when i joined .... Fired with Enthusiasm !!!

Mind you the sizeable cheque was greatly appreciated .
