I stand on the opposite side. I was working as a mechanical engineer in oil and gas construction (EPC). previous work was in a mega project in Kuwait which was the 8th largest refinery built from scratch which itself was a world record.

But now I don't even get a interview call and got into a warehouse FLT role. Thinking of doing online Uber food delivery for extra income. I never thought I would be jobless coz I worked in a particular field.
That's because in general when an oily comes to another sector they know you will unsticks and leave the moment oil comes back. Happens every time. Even in retail we get people say they enjoy the change don't miss the money and after an oil job chases them they leave.

True from history. But I think the last new refinery on earth will be that in Kuwait. Why would anyone invest in oil and gas in this electric era? Would crude oil ever touch $100 again?
And oil and gas Jobs mean, staying away from family for very long.

You’re not going to earn 45k on only fans without something very special about you. You’d need to put in a massive amount of work in establishing yourself and ongoing be all over it. A few will be earning but most will be on buttons.

I've got a funny feeling that it wasn't quite a serious suggestion, but thanks for the input, I'll cross it off the list....

It was a bit of a joke, but it can be quite serious cash. During the first lockdown (a period of around 4 months) a friend's sister made over £40,000. She continues to do it and has quit her council job.

She does however have a couple of substantial assets and everything is organised quite nicely.
