Keep phoning.

What are the circumstances that indicate you need the code changed?

If you're in a company pension scheme and paying tax via PAYE, your employer will be deductiong your contributions at whatever rate and as pension contributions change your tax position also automatically changes on a net pay basis, so I do not see why you need to tell the tax office.

Be prepared to phone them a few times!

I have spoken to them 3 times about my tax code and each time the have said they will change it. Its still the same.

So I wrote to them, no change to taxcode

So I phoned again, they said "we got your letter and the matching one from your employer but decided to ignore them". Now you have phoned will will change your taxcode

Taxcode changed smile result

Tax relief on pensions can be claimed in numerous ways (too numerous - in my opinion). In some cases, the relief IS obtained by an adjustment to the taxpayer's tax code. This sounds like the situation here and the code should be changed to ensure that the correct pensionn tax relief is given for the current tax year and the taxpayer has the correct level of PAYE deducted from their salary.
