Good evening people, not been on for a while, just wondering,iv applied to join the TA (early stages yet) I've had citalopram anti depressants prescribed to me by my doctor, although I've only had 3 weeks worth, and to be honest I've not taken any as I didn't feel I needed them, and now what was stressing me out has been sorted,I'm fine. So as I no longer need them and never actually took any(not that that makes any difference) what problems am I going to encounter with the rest of my application? Cheers guys, any help appreciated.
I applied to police and army currently hoping to start in the police early next year after my medical, I chose the police because I had issues with depression when I was like 18 no probs for 7 years since, but felt it may well cause me problems with any army medical, I don't know whether It would or not, but put yourself in recruiters shoes, do you really want to run the risk of having to speak at an enquiry into a suicide and explain why you thought it wise to let someone who has a medical history of depression have a gun. Also felt that if you ask about it you're then showing that it is an issue, so it's a bit of a catch 22 situation
Best idea is to sit down with your armed forces careers advisor and have an honest chat, explain the situation and ask them whether there will be any complications with your application regarding your current situation. They can then find out, which is in both your and their best interests as time will be wasted on both sides if you get to the later stages of applying and they turn round and reject the application.

And breathe.....It shouldnt be a problem at all, i've had citalapram (sp??) few years back while at uni. since then i've gone through all the selection process and have a place at sandhurst, which I can take up once i've recovered from my motorcycle accident.
Its been ages since the medical so I can't remember too much, I believe I declared it on form when applying. doctor might have asked about it when I saw him I can't rememeber, which should demonstrate it really wasnt an issue at all.
I think the only criteria there is, is that there needs to be a year or more between stopping medication and applying

I phoned my TA unit this morning and explained the situation.
I was told that as I only had a small prescription of them (2-3 weeks) and never took them, aslong as my doctor says I no longer needed them and they took me off them, there should be no problem.
Thats good news
What unit/part of army are you going for? Have you spoken to them about their training schedule? Was chatting to my mate who's in the yeomenry up here (newcastle) and their training has been cut right back at the moment. They are still crying out for guys to do a tour though he said

I was in the regular 4 year ago,2nd bat rrf, undecided as to join 202 engineers ta, or go back to regular and lose a well paid job and decent car etc,but tbh I think going back in regular would bring me more joy....
