Can anyone help me with foundation degree entry requirements
Discussion
Hi guys,
I'm currently at NEW College Bromsgrove about to go back to my IMI Level two in motor vehicle repair and maintenance. I'm looking at going into the motorsport engineering side of motor vehicle and this foundation degree at warwickshire college has caught my eye.
In the entry requirements it states:
"Normally, applicants will be expected to have at least 80 UCAS points. This is equivalent to:
- One A Level where science or mathematics is recommended; or
- BTEC National Diploma (NQF) in Engineering or Motor Vehicle; or
- BTEC National Certificate (NQF) in Engineering or Motor Vehicle
- BTEC Level 3 (QCF) Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering or Motor Vehicle and above
- BTEC Level 3 (QCF) Diploma in Engineering or Motor Vehicle Pass-Pass and above
- BTEC Level 3 (QCF) Extended Diploma in Engineering or Motor Vehicle Pass-Pass-Pass and above"
At my current college, there is an option to do the IMI Level three in Motor Vehicle, does anyone know if this "counts" as any of the latter three in the above list to enable me to have the basic requirement for the foundation. If not, any advice?
Thanks,
Tom

Not sure if yours is equivalent to any of those but Warwickshire college do a BTEC National Diploma in motorsport engineering which leads onto the foundation degree so you could always do that first.
Just had a quick look through the website and can't find anything about the BTEC Nat? RC racer said:

Excellent, my friend did it back in 2004, I did a Btec in Engineering Design. Have now just finished a Masters in Automotive Engineering
I'm just waiting for a call now, 2 year diploma, which will hopefully take me to the foundation degree, then the degree. Best start saving then! Thanks alot for the info guys, just waiting on a phone call and/or email now from warwickshire, just hoping I haven't missed the application deadline. I'm thinking not because it gave me the option to apply for this year on the site.
I'll give it a week and if I don't hear anything I'll speak to them.

Was the case when I applied too so I did the other course which no longer runs.
A friend of mine did just turn up on the day and say he was there for that course though and was just registered on it.
Looks like i'm going to carry on what i'm doing at Bromsgrove, have already applied for next years course at Warwick, so hopefully will get onto that. Don't really like what I'm doing at the moment, but if I carry on. At least i'll be a fully qualified mechanic, not what I want to do with my life. But I suppose any qualification has it's benefits... A friend of mine did just turn up on the day and say he was there for that course though and was just registered on it.
Got a phone call of warwick yesterday, one guy didn't get his grades and they phoned me to see if I would accept a short notice interview for the national diploma course, I accepted, had an interview this morning, and am going back tomorrow morning for the intake/introduction day!!! Over the moon to say the least, thanks for all your help guys!
