Unpaid Salary - Help Required!
Discussion
Hi All,
So I started a new job for a magazine publisher recently and all seemed well & good. However, on payday (last friday), nobody got paid. The MD said he could give us cheques (but they would bounce) and assured us that we would be paid by CHAPS yesterday, which didn't happen.
After hiding in his office all day, he announced that the magazine would not go to print next week as they can't pay the printers and, to all intents and purposes, our jobs no longer existed for the time being.
He went on to say that he was aiming to raise finance to set up under a new company name and fold the old limited company and would be in touch to say how things were progressing. He also said that we could continue to attend work to fend off any clients, make excuses etc. etc. He also intimated that if the finance is forthcoming, our jobs will be safe ,but for now, assume you're redundant and "I wouldn't blame anyone for looking around for another job".
It sounds as though he genuinely wants to pay us but I'm owed a month's salary, about £200 in fuel and one month's car allowance.
Does anyone know how best to go about ensuring I get what's owed to me?
Many thanks!
