Thoughts on this E36 M3
Discussion
Hi all.
Some guidance/help please.
I don't know much, if anything, about the earlier M3's but have always loved the E36 shape in M guise which incidentally was the first M car I was ever driven in. Thought it was terrifyingly quick !
What are your thoughts on this car?
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...
Does it look original?
Is it too much? About right?
Any known faults/weaknesses?
Are they the original alloys?
Anybody else thinking of selling?
And lastly, anywhere else I should be looking?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance.

Mine may be on sale soon too if I dont fall in love with it too much.
Following mechanical work will have been done to it by sale time to freshen it up and bring it up to spec.
Oil and filter change
Front and rear brake discs and pads
Lambda sensors x 2 changed
Gearbox linkage and fluid change
Power steering fluid change
Propshaft bush replaced
It is a convertible in Estoril blue with white/silver leather interior.
Check my project thread.
Good cars are becoming harder to find. I have been trying to find another one but to no avail. I think owners are becoming aware of price increases and holding on to them.

Hi. Yep, seen your thread and car. Best colour for an E36.
Why sell so soon?? Looks like you're getting to grips with everything now. Still got the M6?
I bought the M3 as an investment. Everyone was getting on the bandwagon and I didnt want to miss an opportunity. It is a 13 owner car but that didnt put me off as I am in the trade and had the time and money to put it right. Put it this way, I have seen 2-3 owner cars in even worse condition. Mine on the other hand will be mint once finished. Why sell so soon?? Looks like you're getting to grips with everything now. Still got the M6?
I still have the M6. Once clutch and flywheel are done I may end up falling in love again but really I need to sell it to fund some business projects I currently have going on.
Oh, I also have a 600bhp Supra too which is a complete monster of a car. Fast and Furious 7 has just been released. I may end up selling that too

A manual 328i sport is rarer than an M3 and a very different car. If you're looking for a car for plenty of track use I'd be looking for a cheaper, higher mileage example - I don't think there's any point paying a premium for a low owner/mileage car.
I think it's a good £1k over priced but something like this: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=...

I had an E36 328i Coupe... Great car! Great chassis! Great engine!
It was mildly modified (suspension, polybushed, brakes, M50 manifold, remap, exhaust, buckets) and at 228bhp, not much less than a 3.0 M3, bearing in mind they're 150kgs heavier...
Brilliant car to learn RWD in, the steering was very communicative and in my humble hands did an 8m54s lap of the Ring (BTG):

The best bit was not worrying about value, it was bought for £1800, spent about that again to make it a perfect track day/weekend blast tool!
And it spat flames!

It could have done with the LSD from the Sport - get one if you can!

Thanks!
As I said, great car! Lots of confidence once the handling is tightened up. Good tyres helped too...
Eibach Pro Street S £800
Custom stainless exhaust £450
M50 manifold & remap £450 ish
EBC discs n Yellowstuff pads £250 ish
Polybush kit n fitting £400 ish
Federal RS-R £400.
Probably a few other bits n pieces, got rid now as I've bought an E46 M3...
Should be chucking the exhaust & suspension on ebay when I get back from Holland.

Not selling mine mate. It owes me too much and after a runout in Wales with an RS4 and two TVRs itoday I was reminded why it's a keeper. You'll find one. The hunt is all part of the fun. There's a nice 3.0 for sale on m3 cutters.
