E46 M3 CSL....
Dont worry about the power drop from the merc, they are in different leagues for handling and throttle response.
Plus it'll feel more special, and hold its value.

yah do like the e46 m3 csl but only did them in a slow clunky auto box for the uk I think? and the prices have gone crazy at minute" Dont worry about the power drop from the merc, they are in different leagues for handling and throttle response.

60k+ for a good lower mile car! don't think you"ll make eney money on these know! May eaven start dropping?
about the E46 m3 cs? most the best parts from the csl and lot better priced and stick shift

How does the E46 m3 compare with the E92 m3 v8 ? iv not drove eather! The v8 engine will probley kill the e46 in all ways! But is the E46 more sharp and crisp when you nail the gas!
The S65 is a very different V8 to yours and closer to the S54 in many ways, huge amount of revs up to 8400rpm and goes bat st at 7k+ But you have to like using those longs legs and enjoy induction noise rather than contrived farty exhaust sounds to get the benefit.
It's a wonderful engine, very precise on the throttle with 8 ITBs a great chassis that even a ham fisted fool like me could hold at a jaunty angle whilst snapping through the gears.
The CP e92 M3 is the best M car I've had after owning 5.

In case you're interested, my virtually new (450 miles) m2 is about to be traded back to the supplying dealer. Every single option and had full exterior (and interior) gtecniq protection, together with front protection film. whots best out of e46 m3 cs/csl or e92 m3 or maybe 1m or m2 ?
You must go through cars like I go through hot dinners.
You had an RS5 just a few short months ago and were considering an M4 or M2.
Now you have a C63 and are wondering if you should get an older M-series car.
I think you should get whatever Matchbox toy you can afford with your pocket money.

Slow and clunky compared to what? It's not an auto box and shouldn't be thought of as such. It's miles better than the traditional manual the E46 has. Which is slow and clunky. The SMG in the E46 suits the car perfectly, especially when pressing on. 60k+ for a good lower mile car! don't think you"ll make eney money on these know! May eaven start dropping?

The CS is a run out M3 with slightly bigger breaks and CSL style wheels. It certainly doesn't have most of the parts of the CSL.

From my personal experience in both, i would say very little performance difference, the V8 most certainly does not kill the straight 6 3.2...What you'll find if you drive both back to back is the E46 is sharper, feels lighter and more responsive. It has more edge or thats how i felt, and given the price differences when i looked to trade my E46 for a E92 i couldn't see it as worth the extra money (to me anyway)
E92 is a better cruiser, has more toys, is more uptodate with things like its Nav, hi-fi, and interior is newer looking but i'm not so sure its better built, and the seats i prefer in my E46.
Try both if you can, i had the option of trying back to back as i own the E46 and went to view/drive a E92 at a main dealers, and came away very happy to keep my E46. (this was 4 years ago now)
All that said, the V8 engine is really nice, makes a nice sound and Revs nice and high.
If i hadn't already got my E46 (and had more space!) i would most certainly have a E92!

wy you trading back your m2 so early my friend? was"nt as good as you thought? whot colour and gearbox buddy? CSL would give you the fantastic induction noise that 'encourages' you to take it to the red line, lovely balance, and IIRC it is approximately 100kg ligher than a standard E46 M3. But unfortunately you do have to pay a bit for that privilege.
1M will give you a more 'flexible' engine due to the low/mid-range torque, and probably has a bit more character overall (due to both it's attributes and it's flaws).
Not driven an M2 so can't comment on that.

Generally these things are solved by the custard test.
Image of your C63 with a packet of birds custard on it/in it.
(Else some other non standard thing that you would have kitchen if you dont have custard).
If you can drop outside quickly and do it now.
Interior shot with the foodstuff on the driver seat would be perfect.
Without this people will question your never ending stream of lovely cars.

main thing is the cs e46 has got the same quicker steering rack as csl " also revised springs" bigger brakes and 19 alloys"
at less than half the price"

People struggle to believe someone changes cars every week when they struggle to spell.
The custard test is a tradition on pistonheads. It has shown many a person to be an attention we.
