Does anyone know the total E30 M3 production numbers,(ideally with a breakdown of the various models)?

And, as a guestimate, roughly how many are there in the UK?

Also, have any worthwhile books been written about the E30 M3?

i think it would be good to search out a previous copy of BMW car magazine as they have covered various articles on these wonderful cars which have included the info you require. number of cars here now will obviously be difficult to calculate due to the number of personal imports. The one i had was a genuine UK car though.

Two good books are BMW M series by Chris Rees and Original BMW M Series by James Taylor. Both are on Amazon.

Final numbers in the Uk are hard to pin down because of imports, especially of limited versions.

lucky man, I had exactly the same for 4 years and it also came from Italy, still miss it now, 2 years after I sold it

My personal choice would be an Evo 11, they had the sweetest version of the road engine, but a late spec 215 model with the 16inch wheels would be just as good, the old adage holds true, buy the best condition one you can

Mine might be for sale in a few months after a ring trip. is cecotto (346) with 127km. Has bilstens and H&R's , anti roll bars. Just had new front brakes, evo sport steering wheel, polished 17inch bbs rs's and original 16inch black wheels. Lots of bills over last 2 years of ownership and mot's yest. will put advert on if firm on this

S14.net also has a lot of good info.

Try to get a ride in a known good car, listen to it, so you know what a good one should be like. Maybe more than one.

If you can bring a current owner of one of these beasties with you to look at one you are thinking about buying, that may help you avoid getting into a bum car.

Look out for rusting of the cowl between windshield and hood. The engines are expensive to rebuild, avoid one with dodgy maintenance records, just plain dirty when you look in thru the oil fill cap, that sort of thing. Taking a good listen to a known good car on a cold start and after warming up fully will let you know how it should sound. The S14 makes a lot of mechanical noise.

All told, I like mine.

miss my sport evo too, owned it for just over 3 years and sold nearly 4 years ago
