Just curious about reasons folks are selling their m5s is anyone keeping long term?
For me it was only ever a short term car - I couldn't afford the depreciation on it long term, but I wanted to experience it and I'm glad I did. In hindsight perhaps buying one now that the prices are below 25k for the early models rather than a year ago when they were still over 30 might have been a better idea.

I was planning to keep mine long term, as per my E39 M5 (5 years) but got out after just 7 months, as I was slightly delusional about my willingness to transport a 36 kilo dog in the backseat - entirely my own fault, the F10 M5 was great and no aspects of ownership was less than very good. However, I found that it did make me drive faster than I "intended" as speeding is just so effortless. Swapped it for an X5 M50D, to keep my license wink

had mine for 2.5 years.

I normally change every 1>2 years anyway.

Finding what to go to after it was a real challenge as once you get used to that performance, its hard to think of what can replace it near that price point..

Best car i have ever owned that's for sure!

Mine is now for sale though due to needing to free up some cash!

BMW warranty can be purchased on cars that are brought privately as i have done in the passed also, with no issues come claim time (full BMW Service History on mine)

I went completely different as I don't think there's a better multi-purpose high performance car and I'd just be disappointed.

Proud new owner of an Abarth 595 Competizione now!

I have the luxury of it being a second/fun car rather than a useful car mind...

Glad I found this review! Thank you OP as this was very informative.

I've started to have a look around (Started considering M6 and M4 last year, but prices didn't fall as expected, so I guess it will have to be an F10 M5).

How much discount do you guys think I could get off the asking price from dealers?

Buy mine, it is covered by BMW's most comprehensive warranty tongue out and, according to hpivaluations.com, my car would be listed for over £5,000 more on the dealers forecourt.
Oh my god!

OK just want to confirm, are you also advertising on AutoTrader? Andrew???

There is an advert showing the same car on Autotrader.

I would never have considered buying private (due to the risk and what others have said on here) but that Autotrader advert was quite good and I'm after a "one owner" car.

Yes, that’s me.

One slight hiccup: I’ve just cancelled my E63s order to keep the M5.

I know, I got your message via autotrader. Not sure if they included my email in my response.

Will try to sell my 335 and keep you posted around July.

Sorry but I can’t seem to find your message?! Didn’t even know we had a direct messaging facility on PH.

If you go into a users profile there is an option to contact them by clicking the 'email me' link - that's what I did so I assume it will be in the email account that you used to register on PH. I've had messages from forum members and it's come through as and email.

Hi

I have responded!

It actually went to an old email. But very weird that I didn't get any notifications on here.

Nice.

The non option wheels have grown on me a fair bit of late. I loved the original autotraser advert of this car with a pic of the TV function showing the rugby 😉

Yeah I'm a big fan of the wheels but I appreciate a lot of buyers will want the 20's. I'm getting old...

I’ve the 20” style as 19” on my 535d as it’s not model specific.

The ones you have only he M5 comes with them and they do have some sort of link to the E39

I think he's referring to the style - the 19's he has on his 535d are the same as the M5 20's in style/appearance where the 19's on the M5 don't have any other look-a-like versions as such.

I do like the 20's on the M5 myself. I'm just no a fan of diamond cut rims after having corrosion/white worm on every set I've ever owned and they can only be re-cut once.

They are teh more desirable when selling though. I didn't have any choice in the matter with mine though as I'm the second owner haha

Ah, ok smile

I know what you mean about Diamond cut rims yes

My M5 went and now my 18 month old X5 20” 50D wheels have gone.

I see a fight with the dealer approaching shortly!
