Howdy, Paul, DMS are currently outside on the M6 trying to rid it of it's 'limiter in 7th' problem, will be trying for a 200+ asap (via man standing idle, of course.)

Any news on the RS6?

The E60 is in a completely different ball park.

There is a really good video on youtube with an M5 racing a new M3 on the autobahn.

The m5 destroyed it smile

Round a track, different story though...

best,
adam
Do you, by any chance, have a link to this?

so I press the Power button as I turn on the ignition.
And then crawl into London at 15 - 20mph, but at least I look good in the windows as I roll on by!
it's different on the way home.

Would you suggest I get a Smart instead?

You'll need a bloody long stretch of road to crack that 200MPH.

I had a couple of half chances in Germany last year, but even on fairly light Autobahns, i still could not get enough room to crack the double ton. I think a 2am Autobahn run is the only chance nowadays.

RS6 news is only OK, Avant is coming 1st which is annoying as i want a Saloon, so i'll have to wait until Aug next yr before i get my hands on one. It will without doubt be taking a holiday at DMS for them to perfect a nice map & i'd hazard a guess at 650 ponies being the end result.

Good luck with the 7th problem, it was defo a strange one as it never affected mine.

Paul, I just cannot wait to witness what Rob will achieve with that new Audi... At 650bhp, any power/weight disadvantage relative to the Munchen V10s (as alluded to over on the M5 board) in the standard 572 car will be decisively overcome and I will finally succumb to Ingolstadt.

He was 'dialling in' to my car via some cunning techno whatsit and has removed any form of limitation.

The warning is very much as per your 'you'll need a long stretch of Autobahn' but anything to overcome the actual limitation in top will be welcome: several PHers experienced this so not exceeding 6th's 190 will be no biggie at VMax - just cruising past 180 and sensing no party poopation will suffice.

If you are serious, why don't you bugger off to Friends of the Earth's forums?

Lets hope so. Tis still unknown how chubby the new RS6 saloon will be, as according to early reports the Avant will be North of 2 tons which is just too fat for my liking. If the new RS6 Saloons weight stays in line with the older model, then it's stock weight should be in line with the E60 M5 so it's stock power to weight will exceed the current M5 (can't recall the M6's stock weight?). With a suitable fettle it should be tickling stick funny, but the weight is really the deciding factor.

If the New RS6 is over 1900KG i'll probably give it a miss as it would be a pig on track, under 1900KG & the newer RS4 like 60/40 rear Quattro biaise it should be quite a weapon.

Keeping my eye on this upcoming C63 AMG, as that looks interesting if AMG have finally sorted out the cornering & stopping ability, as straight line grunt is only part of my wish list.

Still want a feckin 997 Turbo though & my desire is beginning to pain me slightly. Just can't bring myself to write a £100K cheque for a car, but who know's what next year brings.

Good luck with the M6 as we know the 200MPH stick is awaiting your arrival. As an aside & i think it was on m5board, did you see the recent footage of the E60 M5 pulling 206MPH?? That's just feckin mental that is.

Paul, know what you mean about the AMG situation. There's still something fabulous about the concept of a 6.5 litre, V12 biturbo putting out 612bhp and torquing 717ft/lb.

Oddly enough I rejected the CL65 AMG on the basis of it's cornering bargesse but the B5 is hardly a 22B in that area.

There are one or two quality niggles I'm getting with both the new Beemers which tbh, I'm sure would plague the £50-60k AMGs but probably wouldn't afflict your old RS6, your current RS4 nor the new meister RS6.

The 997tt is sorely tempting and the quality is indeed far in excess of the 996 (ito of Audification) but it is a lorra, lorra folding by anybody's reckoning.

However, if DMS can't sort it effectively (and I'm losing confidence, fast, btw) I may have to rethink the strategem.

Still not sorted?? I am surprised as i guess they're applying the same mapping to your M6 as my M5 had (could be wrong given that was nearly 18mths ago) & that had no limiter anywhere, however i do recall Darren actually re-applying a speed limiter of 250MPH, actually at VMAX (you recall) as those nice folk at BMW had fecked up the mapping & my ecu was running some weird Alien code.

Could not bring myself to venture into a £100+K AMG, as the 997TT would get my folding stuff every day if a ever reach those heady heights of car ownership.

I think Audi over the last 3-5yrs have made massive gains in their build quality, as this RS4 (touch wood) has not had even the smallest of problems, however the same can't be said for the M5 (new SMG system & computer/sensor gremlins) & my old RS6 had 2 new Tiptronic Boxes (perhaps the ubber tuning went some way to hinder that car).

Good luck & see you soon i hope.

If you can find them for sale second hand at the moment, then you are looking around 44k+ but what a hell of a lot of car you will have for the money.
Niggles will be covored by Warranty so not to worry.
MPG around 12-15, but you are buying into something that is a smidgen off a supercar.

Good luck with your search and keep us posted.

You may find some info on www.m5register.com

You are right about this although I would never drive this fast in the dark.

Here is my best run fron this summer - evening run heading to Munich:

I say, old bean - what, precisely, the f@ck have you done to that (E39???) to make it register an indicated 192mph? rotate
