They also allow you to build NCB quicker by using 10 months policies and then giving you a years NCB. THis can also be transferred to other insurers.
Be careful mate. Check the terms and conditions. The bonus accelerators usually only apply when you remain with the same insurer. Why would another insurer allow two years NCB off their policy when you might only have been driving 20 months with no claims??
I'd seriously check this, mate.

But do the subsequent insurers honour it when they find out?
By that rationale, if Direct Line start issuing NCB accelerated to six months for a full year, after one year would you be entitled to go to Privilege and claim you have two years no claims?
No mate.

They possibly might do as they're the same company, different brand, last time I worked for them .But do the subsequent insurers honour it when they find out?

Insurance is mad, I got a good deal through endsliegh, finally paying sub £800 for first time, but have 10 years noclaims to thank for that.
Ironically the insurance is with Norwich Union, who laughed at me when i went direct, go figure.
It's funny that you mention that as i've just got around to re-newing the insurance on the M3 as it had lapsed due to a huge c*ck up on behalf of Barclaycard. So i had to go through the system as a new customer with the same policy number which resulted in a quote of £1,900 at the tender age of 29 so, naturally i told them to shove it. A quick check on line with that confused.com and the cheepest quote worked out to be £935 with the same company !!!Ironically the insurance is with Norwich Union, who laughed at me when i went direct, go figure.
I really cant work that one out
Not that i'm complaining much

To be honest, if you cannot afford one due to the extra grand it may not be the best car for you - things can and do go wrong with cars so you should always have enough in reserve to be able to pay for repairs.
Otherwise you'll spend all your time driving paranoid that something may happen which you won't be able to fix which will completely destroy your enjoyment of the car.
IMHO.

Not to put the frighteners on anyone, but my 30k mile E36 Evo has just presented me with a £2k+ bill... and not a VANOS bolt in sight either.
These cars are very expensive to run. I always laugh when someone suggests £1500 a year max to run a ~10y/o ///M car...
