I seem to remember about 2 months ago, saying that these cars would firm up and possibly rise in value and everybody laughed at me on here. I even had flying pigs. I am now taking a bow and exiting, stage left.
HiI responded with the flying pig comment a couple of months ago and see no reason why you're trying to infer that some how you were right. Prices are still dropping; look at the classifieds ads, there's a few cars at 26k and a couple more at less than 30k. At the time you inferred prices would go up. This certainly is not the case.
The trend is still down, which is really unfortunate for current owners. I plan to purchase a Coupe shortly, but see no reason why I should have bought over the last 5 months, the last 2 months have seen at least a 2 K drop . I really liked the Z4M coupe on my test drive and would have bought one instead of the Cayman S, if it had been on sale at the time. I can’t understand the price drops either.???
aabbaa1980, you DO come across as rude.
as i said above cars that are 3 months old and done less that 2000 miles (like what mine had done when i bought it) are acutaly forsale at more than mine was advertised for, let alone what i acutally paid..
anyway the facts of life are 99% of all new/nearly new cars depreciate! get over it, or forever drive and old banger and be content your saving a packet on depreciation...
Agree.
The cars that are under 30k are about 2 years old. Big difference in terms of those and more recent cars.
All cars depreciate, I lost 9k in one year on a Boxster and the M is no different.
I always wonder if people are deliberately trying to bid the prices down so they can buy one for less.....

Just an observation that prices have continued to soften, try and sell your car and you’d see what its worth, not what you think or hope I’d wager.
I’m responding in the main to claims Z4M prices have gone up, their haven’t nor will they.

I have just sold my Z4M and was shocked at the prices dealers were offereing me for the car, which bought 2nd hand in November 07.
At the end of the day these cars aren't selling well, I'm told it's because people are buying Gaymans, additionally the M was over-priced to begin with.
Look at the prices of the Z3M, these are going up if anything, I believe there is an S54 in the classifies for just under 22k, the car is 7 years old for god's sake.
Cars depreciate - fact. Some cars values will increase over time but I don't think the Z4M will be one of them.
If you're in the market to by a Z4M you will be able to get a good deal.

You can advertise a Z3MC for whatever you want to, finding someone to buy it for 22K is another thing altogether. I used to have one although a cracking motor, they are now an old car. As said 99% of cars depreciate, both the Z3MC and the Z4MC WILL depreciate. I didn't buy mine to make money, get over it peeps, a 4-5k a year loss will happen.

It's laughable to suggest that banter on a PH forum is actually going to move markets! You simply can't 'talk' the value of a car up or down in such a way.

The few cars that are now sub £30k, now are all low spec, higher mileage, older cars. Therefore not comparable to the few month old, high spec, low mileage models we have been talking about.
Yes there are a few more cheaper cars available now, but like for like cars are priced almost exactly the same as they were 6 months ago.
It's all marketing, people read forums before buying - I did and it does influence. People can be so bitter though, it's sad as they are propbably driving a 1999 Corsa themselves and have never driven the car! LOL!
The focus should be on how the car drives anyway, isn't that why we buy them and if the glove fits...
Would rather have the M than the Cayman S which I test drove back to back twice and having owned several Porsche's including the GT3 Mk 2 the M4 Coupe was up there with the best(including the CSL which it reminded me of a bit).
Buy the Z4M Coupe, haggle the price down and get yourself an absolute bargain in terms of a true drivers car.

my comments weren't aimed directly at you just towards the potential purchasers (on this thread) that are worried if they spend £30k+ on a Z4M (and acutaly use it) they will loose money... err... you WILL loose money, simple Just an observation that prices have continued to soften, try and sell your car and you’d see what its worth, not what you think or hope I’d wager.

i've put over 7000 miles on my car since october, some of the warranty is gone, the tyres, brakes, clutch are more worn and its got lots more stone chips (there weren't any when i bought it LOL) - i'm under no illusion its worth less than i paid...
Cars like this shouldn't be purchased with the impending monetary value in mind, yes mines cost me money, but do i feel like i've had that amount of value from it in enjoyment? - you bet your ass i have
i'm still convinced once the management cars have gone and production stops things will change - CSL took at massive hit, now look at them, good cars keep climbing.

You're totally right, of course cars lose money the more we drive them. Picking one up for 46k - no way, but after they stop making them and the first year losses, it will balance out. Such a good car in my opinion! Boxsters lose the same (higher spec S cars that is)...
Brilliant car, just find the right one for the right price and go for it, you won't look back!

Maybe the odd expensive looking Z4M Coupe in the market might help hold the prices up, slightly more than otherwise. Can you imagine what would happen to the prices, if everyone who had one for sale tried to compete to make their own one the cheapest.
clearly some people do expect to hold onto their money and try as hard as they can to do so... they put in their cars into the paper/websites at inflated prices then they get moody when people say that that car is £6k over priced. No logic! If i'm rude, bite my bum!
