I wouldn't class 150k on a 15 year old car as high, by now must have changed worn components.Put it this way, I would take a regularly driven and well looked after 100k car over a 40k car that's just sat around most of the time.
Soon the mile issue will disappear as the ropey top enders go and the ropey clocked ones disappear.
I'd argue a lot of lower cars probably have a trim before the MOT each year

Agreed they are still pretty quick and faster than the majority of other traffic; 215bhp per tonne is about the same as a Ferrari Daytona so hardly slow.........but this is no better than an E36 M3 EVO, E46 M3, current Golf R or Audi S3.Stock M135is appear to be about 250bhp per tonne.........

As much as i love it, it is a big slow barge now i am afraid. Personally would love to have a F10 M5, but in all honesty i rarely get to drive it much these days as i live in London and find that my bicycle is faster! I can get from my house to city within 60 minutes in rush hour, with a car - at least 2 hours.
I usually use the wife's car (Honda Jazz) to go gym or anywhere under 20 miles.

Took mine down to Le Mans on the weekend, 14 years old and still going strong, 1250 miles and didnt miss a beat. In the real world though how often are you using it's full power? It's still a nice place to be in with the cruise control set and having a leisurely drive cross country. The build quality is still up there with the best of them I reckon.

I may get shot down but when I hear people bleat on about Audi build quality I ask myself have they not had the pleasure to drive in an e39 M? I ask this as my good friend has had new modern top spec audis for the last few years, changing as models arrive and most of them seem a bit cheap and very rattly/squeaky. The only squeak I get in the e39 is if I've had a curry and I'm trying not to shart.PH XKR said:

No squeaks or rattles here either. I'm not too bad after a curry.It can take a lot to look after the mighty S62 V8 under the bonnet, but they're a pretty solid car and sound wonderful with the right modifications to the exhaust. Even leisurely driving is an event I feel.
I really like mine and couldn't care less that a Golf R etc etc would rinse it from the lights it's older tech now but that's what makes it more interesting than a modern 'good at everything' performance car in my view.
