Pagids do generate a fair amount of dust compared to OE - worth it though. I've got RS29s and they're great from hot, cold, teppid or moist.

Mine rattle and squeak like a bh though, to the point of being a bit embarrassing around town...

All good advice here. I tried EBC Red-Stuff pads, EBC Grooved and drilled disks front, OEM Disks back. The Front disks warped. The pads on the back glazed almost immediately, and started tearing grooves out of the OEM rear disks. I should have known. I've always hated EBC products from the many years of motorbiking I've done.

I junked the pads after 1 month, fitted Ferodo pads all round and it's fine now. Wish I hadn't bought the disks though. I'll change them when they wear out, they're not too bad with the Ferodo pads.

Damn my procrastination! Oh well.. I'll have to fork out for new ones I guess... can they be bought cheaper via EaroCarSpares etc anyone? I'm guessing no if they are the OEM items.. frown

Hi guys,

im in a semi-similar situation to the original post, however i track my m3 evo regularly and am starting to more and more and is now fully stripped.

I took it to track on saturday and went through another standard set of pads, had the obviousl brake fade and had to brake earlier than every other bugger.

I know to keep the standard discs as they are pretty damn good but really want to know what you would suggest are the difinitive best track pads to use that may last more than 1 day????

also not a £10000000 quid haha

cheers.

Try the Performance Friction Z rated. they are pretty cheap at about £60, and i've never got any fade and this involves braking that makes you feel queasy, throws all loose items to the front of the car, and annoys following drivers on trackdays.

That's where i got mine. Although i haven't tried many others, i found that i couldn't get any fade from them at all.
They last pretty well too according to reviews.

alanruss im in the exact same situation as you. When i bought my car i found my disks where warped so swapped them out for originals. So im running totally standard braking gear. Which stops amazingly. But if ive been driving it hard for say 30 mins i find i get a little brake fade. Also my new rims have wide chrome lips so im defo not wanting my wheels covered in brake dust. But im defo after some new fast road pads. So guys whats the best comprimise? My cars not a track car but it does get fast road use occasinaly. But i like keeping it clean. Whats the best recommadation? Most posts on here seem to be just about the best stoppers on track

A number of people always report the e46 M3 to have poor brakes (but then again, there is a cult of people slating whatever standard brakes are fitted and buying hugely overpowered stoppers for show on all cars) but this review covers the basics, decent price, wear rates, dust and performance.

I'd say if you want any more stopping power, you will have to ditch some of the other pluses (ie, price, dust, noise, cold performance)

I have just renewed my front discs with OEM evo floating discs & fitted Performance friction Z rated brake pads, no brake fade at all but i find they don't work nowhere near as well as the standard ones from cold but i am still pleased with them & would buy them again.

cheers for the info guys. I'm going to opt for the standard setup and maybe try to get some wax polish etc for the alloys instead. Not workiong from cold / squealing would get right on my tits TBH.

Also don't get me wrong I want performance, love a spirited drive but getting fade on an M3 Evo on the public road...? Thats A LOT of braking! I bought the convertible so clearly marked myself out as a bit more poser than racer. wink Hardtop makes a track day / Nurburgring (sic?) possible now I guess.

Anyone heard of the rear passenger protection detonating on track days on the convertibles?

Nothing would beat the brake fade I got coming down the Stelvio in a £100 Renault 11 for CzechWrecks. eek I bled them twice a day with my co driver and the fade never went away! wink
