Thanks everyone. I have decided to ‘donate’ my Range Rover to my wife who has agreed to sell her car, and buy a Competition which is my preference. Best of both worlds wink

For what little it's worth, because I am the furthest thing from an expert, I actually think the ride is improved in the Competition. I was fortunate to have a long weekend in the 'regular' M5 immediately before buying the Competition as my current daily. I just feel the added stiffness in the Competition means that there's less reverberation through the chassis over bumps and holes. I'm sure it's just a matter of personal taste but I was prepared for a stiffer ride in the Competition but in comfort mode it actually feels just a little more composed.

Either way they are staggeringly good cars. I had an E63 AMG Edition One last year and I much prefer the M5 personally. I briefly had an M2 Competition, which I personally didn't get on with, prior to the M5 and I can honestly say the M5 is more fun....absolutely love it. Best car I've owned in ages.

Does anyone know the GFV/final payment to get an idea what the depreciation will be over 3years?

12,000 miles per year and over 4 I’d say £35-£40k?

Over three I have no idea, isn’t it normally about 50% of original value?

I think these Vardy cars are all pre-reg so also have to consider that you are 2nd owner. You’ll also not necessarily be able to access the low finance deals on offer from BMW on new cars (although I know a couple of years ago you were able to get these on some pre reg up to 3 months old and less than 1000 miles on the clock...l not sure if still the same?)
Given you can get a ‘brand new’ unregistered car for probably slightly bigger discount i’d be wanting a few thousand more off these pre reg cars if one takes your fancy.
Edited to add when I had a 36 month 10k p.a. quote on new Comp I think the residual was just over £37k.

I saw one the other day, 10k over 4 years and a Rv of 33k which is low. Payment was £850 odd i recall. I wasn't looking it just popped up somewhere. Dick Lovetts. That was with a Total Credit of 70,800 comprising a 5k customer rep so i deduce the dealer cont was about 15k which we know can be bettered. Add 18.8p/m but ultimately the piss poor residual is adding to the cost. Even with solid residuals it's still 700/m. I recall the F10 lease give away years ago at around 9m def and £500. I may be wrong.

Phil, can you share the spec. I assume it had a good one and came in at 105?

That service sounds truly shocking, although I do think this lack of giving a sh!t is getting far more common.

Guys, for those wanting 2019 v2 maps you don't need a BMW dealer. Just go into your online account for BMW Connected Drive > Remote Cockpit > Map Update - it's in there.

Install the 'BMW Download Manager', sign in on that using your Connect Drive account credentials and it'll download a few files to your computer. Put files onto a USB, insert in the car and it'll update the maps automatically from the USB.
I tried this and it asks for the VIN. It then returns a message saying all software is up to date so no action required. This depsite the fact the maps are out of date. don't know if i did something wrong or went to the wrong BMW site?

Can anyone confirm if they have the BMW voice assistant feature on their car, the one that works kind of like Alexa, so you wake it by giving a command such as "hello BMW". Thanks

According to the builder it came in at £103k. It doesn’t have the M Drivers Package or Ceramic brakes. It does have Interior Trim Aluminium Carbon Structure Dark / Driving Assistant Plus / Apple CarPlay preparation / Premium package / Comfort package.

Just booked my running in service, can I ask what people have been paying for these? Seems extremely high.....
About £700 but I’m going for the £999 service inclusive so for me it makes sense as I’ll get three services for that cost and as much oil as I can drink wink

I did ask three dealers to quote and they’re all much the same in the SE. I’m pretty sure my F10 M5 was £350 (albeit I got that thrown in for free)
Mine was quoted as £670 so yes £700 ish. I'm investigating the £999 option tomorrow just to see if it is "better".

I purchased the £999 option based on the fact I’m very likely to drive 40,000 miles in three years and will get about £2000 worth of servicing for £999

Surely a no brainier as you’ll get the next service too?

Is the service pack specific to a named dealer or is it BMW wide?
