I generally run with the AC turned off, but I'm now positive the car has run the AC even with the button off a few times.

It seems to get confused if I turn the car on with AC on. Turn it off, turn the fans off, switch to eco pro mode then a little later in the journey turn the fans on again (with no AC), the AC sometimes engages.

Software bugs in cars.

I don't think I've turned the AC off auto in any car I've owned with climate control!

I'm usually seeing around 36/7mpg at legal motorway speeds, journey averages are usually around 34/5mpg with some slower traffic at either end. A spirited drive on country roads is usually 29mpg.

Me neither.

The guy who I bought my M3 from told me he used to turn the air con off all the time, as if it was a selling point or something, it is the only car where I had dried out seals and cost a fair few quid to sort it.
Also, stank for the first time I used it, it was horrid, had to use one of those air freshener bomb things.

I like air blowing over me, but I'm not a huge fan of the drier AC air in certain weathers, so mine goes off and on a lot.

Plus, MPG innit.

I guess being in sport mode most of the time doesn't help my mpg, but i am enjoying driving it and i'm doing way over my contracted mileage smile

There seemed to be a few bargain rates going round at the end of last year. Does anyone know if this is a regular thing and would be likely to happen again this year?

In summary no one really knows. The consensus is that it's very unlikely.
