E39 M5 prices on the rise ?

I left a deposit on the above at the beginning of October with the proviso that I could start it from cold and test drive before taking the car away.
They called me the next day and refunded my deposit without much in the way of an explanation.
I would love to buy from someone like Munich Legends, but I can't help but think a good list of what to look out for and common sense withr egards to paperwork and history you'll save £2-3k potentially that could be ploughed back into the car at Munich Legends service department if required!

Well I sold mine for £5.5k a few weeks ago and it's now living in Norway. 2001 car with 112K miles, FSH + a load of invoices, Carbon Black with Heritage leather and a recent (less than 1000 miles) set of Vredestein tyres. Only issues where that the wheels needed a refurb and it had just started to bubble near the fuel filler cap. May have sold it too cheap but I didn't get much interest in it. Made a big loss on it since I paid good money for it a couple of years ago.

Just out of interest, what's replacing it?I don't reckon 'good' M5s are going to get cheaper, and I also reckon looking for a mint one is a waste of time as they will ALL generate bills if kept and looked after, that being said mines been pretty much faultless after a year which I didn't expect. Brakes and paintwork are next on the list after a trip to Spa and the 'ring this weekend, I just hope the weather holds out.

Not sure if there has been any changes to the Norwegian import duties regarding age of vehicle etc recently or not? The main reasons will no doubt be continued strong economy & high wages in Norway together with strong Krone, extremely high local prices and demand outstripping supply. Also UK used car prices must be just about the cheapest anywhere in Europe?Here is a Norwegian 2001 M5 advert below (one I picked at random). Selling price 284000 NOK = £31240!

I used to live in Norway some years ago and imported my RHD Porsche 944. I sold it there some 6 years later for more than I originally paid for it in the UK - even with the steering wheel on the "wrong" side for our Nordic friends.

I would have my money on the 840 Sport... Been watching them a while and nice low mileage one's have gone up over the last 18/24 months... In fact I A'm kicking my self,should have bought a 53k Daker Yellow one 18 months ago and missed it for a few quid and now can't find anything near the same money.......!

EEEKKK Are you sure it's this one that needs the bearings and not the other one they have in stock? They told me this one had only just come in on p/ex.To be honest it sounds ok too.Picked mine up from Phil Crouch last night as it needed a service and mot, plus some other jobs. A diff seal change and rear control bars with everything else cost a pretty penny but drive back was awesome...not had a chance to drive her solo for a while but bloody hell these things move when they are on song! Thank god for empty dry roads. Worth every cent I paid and the odd bill! Now I need to check out brake options or maybe just some better pads?

I've heard better pads are all that's needed from my research, but better ask someone who has actually owned one! The market for M5s seems very slow, the same cars have been on autotrader/PH classifieds for weeks, nothing seems to be moving, or coming onto market. There's only one Le Mans blue example within 200 miles, and I'm not touching it with a bargepole - seems to be advertised by two different dealers, one whom I've had very bad service from before.
What's the consensus on whether or not the facelift is worth paying extra/waiting longer for?

Yes i've seen that Le Mans blue one too. I think the Facelift one is possibly a safer bet as it has the revised piston rings to help with oil consumption and revised vanos but a good prefacelift if it's been looked after shouldn't be any more troublesome.
The Facelift one does have a few more gadgets though but you could argue that thats more to go wrong.
