So, I picked up my m2c up a week ago - I am loving it so far - after some man maths I ended up paying cash rather than taking the BMW finance. The car I bought has almost everything - who ever thought anyone needed a heating steering wheel?

I’m 300 miles in, so another 900 to go before the first service - the main things I’ve noticed so far are that parking next to curbs you have to remember the car is much wider than you think ( compared to the mirrors ! ) and that the front wheels send dirt all down the side of the car constantly- I’ve seen a few people on YouTube have installed front mud guards - does anyone have any experience with that?

The upgraded brakes are brilliant, only downside is virtually no clearance between the calliper and wheel, only a matter of time before you end up with a stone grove around the wheel. Wouldn’t put me off having them though, love mine and they look great!

Well after a bit of back and forth, I've eventually gone for a different M2C from my local dealer - hopefully picking up next week.

This one already has apple car play, and the heated steering wheel - and comes with the M-sport upgraded brakes - which I guess is a good thing, but makes running winter tyres a lot more expensive!

Any mad deals to be had on the cars that are left? Like the 11k dealer contribution

I’ve just been out for my first night drive - I see much earlier ( page 9 ) of this thread there was talk of the headlights - I have ‘icon adaptive headlights’ as per the plus pack.

They are certainly bright on full beam!

These are supposed to have head light assist according to the manual and the brochure and I’ve seen people saying they never get flashed - I got flashed every single time this evening when I tested it - and when I drove behind someone I couldn’t see the light turning off or changing at all - is there any trick I’m missing to enable this feature ? I just have the lights in Auto mode and then I enable high beam by pushing the stalk.

There are still cars out there - most have multiple options specced, and DCT - so even with a hefty dealer contribution you’re looking at just under £50k.

Oh dear, to answer my own question I’ve found the button on the end of the stalk - no idea how I missed that in the manual 🤦‍♂️

I find on full beam there’s an annoying square of light in the middle of the beam.
The adaptive part works very well though.

I think I have a problem. I had one, and didn’t like it, and sold it, and I still want another to modify. I’m mental

I’ve tried the adaptive headlights but they never seemed to change when a car came the other way. Does the blue full beam symbol on the dash go off when it “auto dims” ??

I bet Tom M doesn't feel quite so silly now...biggrin

There's a knob by your left knee that turns your lights on. The 'A' setting is for Automatic, not Adaptive. Setting it to A means your lights will come on automatically when it's dark.

To turn on your Adaptive headlights, flick your stalk forward to put on full beam, then press the little button (not the big one) on the end of your left stalk. You should get this symbol on your dash:

No. the main beams stay on, they just cut off the light for cars in front and oncoming so they are not blinded.
The beam will bend round those cars so it lights the road ahead.

Well, that’s the theory... in my experience it really pisses other drivers off

I had it in my F80 and it was amazing. Never really had any issue with oncoming drivers being blinded. I remember one 4am blast from Arisaig to Loch Lomond via Glen Coe, along the dark and twisty A roads. It was just wow.

Really? I have it on my F11 5 series, never had a problem with it. Just turn it on and let it do its thing.

Had the adaptive lights on my 235 and have them on my M2c and they are very good, ocasionally i have had the odd flash, but to be fair i get the odd flash every now and then on dipped beam they are bloody bright.

As someone else mentioned above no need to push the stalk forward just push the button on the end of the stalk.

Thanks. I knew how to turn the system on. I just have zero confidence its not just blinding people! I get flashed by people even on low beam. Modern lights are just too bright for other road users!
