BMW E61 M5 Touring

They told me it was the thermostat which wasn't regulating the temperature properly and causing the car to 'overheat' and cut off as a safe guard to protect itself.
I've been told to keep an eye out on it, as if it comes back it could be idle control actuator.
Try Comma Petrol D-Tox as it has worked for some people
Also....don't use the air con as much as that can mess with it quite a bit too. I still use my air con but not as much as I used to do.
Ok thanks. My stalling is due to a rough idle that bmw have been trying to fix for the last 6 months with no joy. I've ordered some just to give it a go, nothing to lose.I've been told to keep an eye out on it, as if it comes back it could be idle control actuator.

OK guys, need a little advice.
I test drove a 58 plate M5 Touring at a fairly local main dealer and the chap was very helpful and the car was pretty much was spotless. Obviously I would go over it with a fine tooth comb if i was to go ahead with it but I just wanted to gain a little feedback about the price.
It's advertised at £28k with 43k on the clock and the colour combo is Space Grey with Silverstone leather (beautiful combo), DAB, Pan roof, Bluetooth, Auto tailgate and perhaps one or two other options.
Now it's about £3k above our top budget but if I could get him down to £25k, would you say it's a pretty good deal? I had a quick look on Parker's and they reckon it books at £23,700 or so with 70k on the clock in very good condition, so in my eyes, I would say it would be.
Any thoughts please?
Cheers.

Most of those options are actually standard on the M5. Here's a link to a price list. Although it's from 2010 you get the general idea of what's standard and what's optional.
That price seems at the top end of the scale - IMHO that car needs to be pretty much perfect at that price. I haven't found it on BMW's site - is it a franchised dealer? Again, at that price make sure it includes the BMW AUC warranty.

The car was listed at Vines although it appears to have been removed from the BMW website. That price seems at the top end of the scale - IMHO that car needs to be pretty much perfect at that price. Are you saying it's high, even at £25k or at £28k?
Thanks for the price list.

If so that car used to be where i live, its the car that made me want mine, even got a few photos of my M5 Estate parked next to it, just as i was telling my missus how rare they were! (Doh!)
Anyway, car looked immaculate from what i saw
I paid 21500 foy my 2007 with 58K so i'd say as yours is under the "cheap" warranty threshold its well worth 25k! (Getting the car before 60k could save you £300 a month in warranty payments alone!)

IF the car has had all the big bits done/ clutch/brakes including disks/tyres, then offer £25K they should play ball, try for a two year warrantee.I test drove a 58 plate M5 Touring at a fairly local main dealer and the chap was very helpful and the car was pretty much was spotless. If they wont budge push for a two year warrantee or walk.
I paid 28K for a 57 plate car with 32K miles. It also had sun protection glass, the Logic 7/DSP audio upgrade, soft close doors, comfort access, M sport active seats, lumbar support and TV which I believe were all options. It was from a main dealer so came with a year's AUC warranty. And this was in August of 2011. Hence I think £28K in the present day is too high. I'm well aware that the E61 M5 is rare but I don't think they're as sought after by the masses as we might wish to believe and they will continue to depreciate, if slower than the saloon variant.
Ultimate proof is to offer £25K and see what the reaction is. I'm guessing they might knock up to £1200 off but not much more. It would be good to know what they have had to do to the car to list it as AUC - have they put disks/pads/tyres on the car? If yes that will likely give them less wiggle room.
Assuming they refuse your generous offer sit tight and watch what happens. If the car sells quickly then the price must be about right. If it sits for 3-4 weeks it's overpriced and likely to come down.

It looks so good with the Grey and Silverstone colour combo and the interior is immaculate.
To be honest, the last couple of M5 Tourings that have been sold from this dealer went very quickly but this one seems to be sticking around for longer. It will be around 3 weeks now I think. In my eyes, I think £25k is what it's worth but then that's just in my eyes obviously.
Thanks for all the other comments and advice guys and to be honest, I'm going to see if they come down to where I want them to be before I start negotiating about parts and stuff that need replacing as part of the AUC checklist.
I'm pretty sure the clutch hasn't been replaced yet but then it did feel pretty strong. I know this is another thing to consider.

Think its nearer 6 weeks now mate. Screenshotted it on my old phone the instant i saw it. On my pc somewhere and currently about 5 weeks into using my old phone! The higher priced ones do seem to stick around longer but do eventually go without seeing a drop in advertised price! Will upload the photos wednesday!
i took mine out with mondial about 16 months ago , highest cover with £250 excess
when the mileage was about 75k.
don't know if you know this but if you pay monthly the price stays the same as when you started it never goes up. or so i was told
