Z4M prices on the up?
Discussion
I'm currently enjoying a humble 2.0 z4 and been eying up a Z4M
I've been informed that good ones are getting hard to find, and they may be soon to appreciate.
Is now a good time to buy, or will they depreciate more in the short term?
Also is there more demand / rarity value in the coupes over roadsters?

I think the Z4M Coupe will slowly start to increase now but I think it will be a while before you see the Roadster on the up,similar to the Z3M Coupe which are worth nearly double that of the Roadster's now,and remember the Z4M Coupe were made in bigger numbers with two engines were as the Z3M Coupe were only "M" Cars and far less numbers so I don't think they will ever catch up the 3M Coupe's.......
I started to look for a Z4M Coupe in Dakar yellow to go with my "Dakar" collection only to be told that they never produced one.....!

The production numbers for RHD Z4 M Coupes and Z3 M Coupes are nearly identical.

Yes but the 3 coupe was only ever produced as an "M" car in the UK,the 4 Coupe with the different engine's will make it less desirable in the long term because of the total numbers produced and IMO will never be classed as iconic....!The production numbers for RHD Z4 M Coupes and Z3 M Coupes are nearly identical.
prices for exceptional examples are up whether roadster or coupe, bearing in mind that both cars received 4.5Star evo ratings and other popular publications compared to the z3m models to, i see no reason why both won't move up for good examples, hell, a quick look at the for sale sections shows prices are good across the board and appear to be rising in both cars. The coupe is commanding more for sure, but sub 30k miles cars on both sides are getting good prices! However, the value doesn't bother me, i had mine for nearly 8 years and its not leaving anytime soon. Its only a matter of time before more catch on to how much the z4m has to offer, its a REAL drivers car and totally raw, the german TVR is so apt. Awesome car.

Good news! They're great cars these, a little tricky but that's half the love I have for it. Have a CSL airbox and supersprint exhaust on mine. Little weapon! IF it increases in value then great, just another + for the whole ownership experience.
Nice! Did you see the top gear z4m vs boxster? Preferred the z4m due to its tricky personality Is that interlagos blue? Great colour I'd have a tough time picking there are some great colour combos for the z4m

Yep Interlagos. I've had two cars now in that colour and I specifically wanted the same, love it. As you say there are some other good colours for sure.
Without wishing to flame fires that link z4mvsboxster is for the roadster version which has a slower steering rack and has around half the torsional rigidity of the coupe. The coupe is still to this day one of the stiffest body shells out there, almost on a par with the F50 no less! For that reason you have options with suspension tweeks that the car does need.
"Scoring 14,500Nm/degree in BMW’s torsional stiffness test, the M Roadster is pretty stiff for an open car, and despite its wide 225/45 and 255/40 rubber on 8.0J and 9.0J x 18-inch alloys rubber, scuttle shake on poor roads in minimal. Even so, it does not come close to the Coupé’s impressive 32,000 Nm/degree, which is more than double the Roadster’s rigidity."
"Dodge Viper Coupe 7,600 Nm/deg
Ford GT - 27,100 Nm/deg
Lamborghini Murcielago 20,000 Nm/deg
McLaren F1 - 13,500 Nm/deg
Pagani Zonda C12S - 25,000 Nm/deg
Pagani Zonda F - 27,000 Nm/degree
Porsche Carrera GT - 26,000Nm/degree
Koenigsegg CC8S: 28,100 Nm/deg
Ferrari F50: 34,600 Nm/deg
Lamborghini Gallardo: 23,000 Nm/deg"
i love these figures, very impressive stuff for both cars imo..... BUT.... one thing i will say, as the roadster has a higher torsional rigidity figure than a lotus exige s1/s2/s3 (whens the last time you heard someone mention a sloppy exige?) i can assure you, its not being held back :-) Im one of the few that had my car from pretty much new 7.5 years ago and an extensive test back to back led to me the roadster for this very reason, it felt no different just had the extra element of the open top motoring, the z4 was always designed as a roadster which is very evident in how it performs, similar to the Boxster Spyder and cayman R, id 100% go for the Spyder, all the fun with that added element of being more connected to the outside world.Without wishing to flame fires that link z4mvsboxster is for the roadster version which has a slower steering rack and has around half the torsional rigidity of the coupe. This decision is definitely a choice of which you simply prefer, me I'm unashamed to say the roadster was and still is the choice for me :-) i purchased back in a time where the roadster was the more expensive car too ;-)
