He makes sense!

How about E36 for about £6k/£7k and then get a good E30 M3 for about £8/£9k and track that!

As said before the E36 and E46 arent good round tracks and to be honest the E36 wasnt even going to be called an M3 it was going to be called a 330.
Oh dearly me, you havent got a clue byebye

I notice that the E36 M3 prices are coming down pretty Fast, there a few die hards but like it or not the prices are tumbling so maybe hang on for a few more months to see what happens

An E46 gives you the option of leaving TC on and chucking it around like a playstation game. An E36 only has an LSD to rely on.

Did a trackday a couple of weeks back, and the E46s there all had upgrades - AP racing brakes, coilovers etc. There was a CS(L?) that was blowing everything away, but rumour has it it was supercharged.

My mate's E46 is standard and coped pretty well, but I think I had more fun in my E36 328i - if I'd still had my E36 M3 that would've been a hoot. Hence the reason I'm now looking for another E36, rather than an E46 M3. And yes, I will be upgrading the suspension, brakes, Dave F kit...

Trackdays are not a good indication of whats quick. While peddling my old E30 M3 (avec bilstiens, brake upgrade etc) around coombe, i used to get battered on every lap by a MK2 golf with sticky tyres & a great driver who know the track inside out.

e36 is a great all rounder. I'd go for a nice example with a bulletproof history and then mod it a little for track.

Yes the 46 is more powerful but not by much but it is also heavier so in the real world performance difference is negligable. e36 is improved loads by a DaveF induction kit (dynoed at 12-15bhp for an EVO) available from www.e36coupe.com
I'll have to agree with this ^^

You want a 46 for the looks (first) and then perormance and age BUT... price dictates. A 36 will do the job but you know you want a 46 - find the extra dough and you won't be dissapointed.
