Fast road to track - hamer all day on track and drive home again....
Is there a supercharger approach?
Not really cost effective. But forced induction has been done.... http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
Chaps - forgive my obvious ignorance (!) but surely E30 M3's had forced induction from the factory...they are turbo charged aren't they?? I thought it was a 2.3 litre four pot turbo?? 215bhp from a N/A 1980s 4 cylinder engine sounds a bit unlikely..??

Looking forward to being corrected.

Consider yourself corrected.

215bhp from a 2.3 N/A in 1989. Or 220 from an Evo2 or 238 from a Sport Evo 2.5!

It's easy just go to www.s14power.com do some research and spend about £10k!

As others have said a Carbon Airbox, Maxx alpha-n and some Shrick 284 cams is the best value for power gain engine mods. Probably 20-30 hp and about £2500 in parts.

250bhp from a N/A 2.3 litre is asking a lot. From a very basic physics point of vue that means you have to get 25% more air through it. Easy when you can just turn up the boost. Not so easy when you have to fit new, pistons, cams, followers, head work etc ££££. It's all very do-able the DTM engines had >300bhp and you can buy most of the parts from your dealer still! £££££

Don't go down the forced induction route, these cars are all about their throttle response and handling. Much better would be to spend the money on adding lightness and driver training. Overtaking cars on the 'ring with >2x times the power is fun.....trust me!
