Rare VANOS fault code E92 M3
Discussion
Hi guys, recently sold my e46 m3 and bought an e92 m3, i'll do pics and details at a later date.
Had the EML illuminated and had my friend diagnosed it:
c2762 VANOS exhaust maximum limit bank 2.
Now I've searched high and wide, most vanos issues are on e36 and e46 m3's. Theres nothing on this fault code i can find.
Plus their is very little information about the VANOS on the s65 block.
Any knowledgeable people out there? anybody had previous experience of this fault code?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Just an update...
Took the car to my local specialist, he replaced the exhaust solenoid, that solved THAT fault code.
Returning home, two new fault codes were thrown up.
P0024 B camshaft position - timing over advanced or system performance
P0000 B camshaft slow response.
I spoke briefly to my mechanic, the fault codes don't really correlate to engine running, it runs as it should, pulls cleanly throughout the rev range.
His suggestion is the there might be slack in the timing chain, or its the vanos exhaust hub itself.
Any how will be going there on tuesday so he can have a proper look.

Hey Bimmer 87,
Got any updates on those fault codes? I just rebuilt my engine and have the same slow response fault code
I noticed that after setting the timing on my engine the exhaust vanos on bank one would jump while turning crank putting the timing off. After a lot of tries we got the timing right, just that code now..
Thanks in advance
Cheers

the issue was resolved by replacing the vanos hub on bank 2.
looking at the timing values on an auto logic, the fault was caused by exhaust camshaft b being out by 4 degrees on idle.
I'd suggest having it plugged in, the auto logic gave a preferred degrees and the actual position on the camshaft timing, allowing you to compare.
