ZM Nightmare in Germany
Discussion
My 8 year old zM has been off the road now for 2 weeks due to BMW being unable to supply a replacement handbrake lever. The need for a new one was the reason it failed its MOT. German HQ refuses to say whether it has a part or, if it does, when this might be delivered to the UK, despite the order having been prioritised by BMW UK.
So, what was a £46k car 8 years ago is virtually valueless owing to the lack of an MOT.
I know I could probably find a non-official part online somewhere, but I have only ever put my car through main dealer( due to it being damaged twice by independents in the past), and want to continue doing that if I can.
I have emailed all the popular motoring press to see if the story interests them. Does anyone have any similar tales?

Get the OE part number. I bet it is the same as an E36 or E46 part.

As others have said the part is likely to be shared with an e36/e46 or a z3.
If you find out the part number and if it is shared then you will be able to pick one up second hand. Plenty of z4's being broken so shouldn't be too hard to find one.
ETA part number looks to be 34406774798

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions. I did manage to locate the part from another source online. My only problem is that I prefer putting it through main dealer servicing for everything, simply because it has been badly damaged on each occasion that I have used an independent BMW specialist. In one case it was nearly written off.

Worth asking the dealer if they'll fit your part, if that's important to you?Gassing Station | M Power | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
