Looking for a V10 M6
Discussion
Pretty much decided that an M6 will be my next car and have been browsing for a few weeks and not a lot is floating my boat. Is there anywhere I've missed to find a well cared for one privately? Don't really like buying from dealers who have just bought it from bca and stuck 2k on. Don't want a bmw dealer one; not fussed about warranty as I have an exceptional and exceptionally cheap mechanic on hand.
This low mileage & end of build run example looked tasty. Probably worth getting one in the 20k bracket as the 15k examples will throw a 3k bill at you eventually.
Really like the walnuss leather option. Private seller and probably wants it gone before the cold weather sets in...???

Nice car, and comes with a half tank of fuel I see as well. Really like the walnuss leather option. Private seller and probably wants it gone before the cold weather sets in...???

The Portland merino leather is a lovely colour and in my experience very scarce in the UK (and full leather as well, in itself a £4.6k option on that model year). New clutch is good to hear for most of us, but then you say mechanical issues are not a problem for you so may not be a big plus. Individual Audio it is for sure, the only step upward from the standard Logic 7 on the M6 which is very good anyway - again a lovely (and rare) upgrade, even on a £90k+ car. Car has Comfort Access as well which is nice - and CA is a PITA to add post factory if you ever wanted to.Really like the walnuss leather option. I think although registered in 2009, it's a mid-2008 car in terms of manufacture - thus the CCC unit rather than CIC replacement that came along in 2009 and was a big improvement.
If mechanical issues don't worry you - and it is an S85 V10 with all those related issues if not maintained correctly - would be well worth a look I would think. Late, low-mileage E63/E64 M6s are very thin on the ground.

You can have a mechanic who will do all the labour for free and still rack up bills in the thousands. I'd reconsider your position on the warranty unless the car in question has all the expensive stuff replaced recently.I haven't thought about selling mine but the wife keeps moaning about only 2 doors
Indianapolis Blue with cream leather FBMWSH and just about to turn 60K miles. I have had the mondial warranty since I got it two and a half years ago and it's been good value for money. PM me if you'd like to know any more

Forgot to mention that I will have to change the con rod shells, just I case. Would anyone be able to recommend a reputable Indy? I live near Stansted/Cambridge, but would travel up to 50 miles.
Thanks
What year? How many miles has the M6 done? Is Aylesbury too far to travel? Thanks

Its a nightmare to find good people to work on these cars/engines.
You’d be better off leasing a new one when BMW do a decent price, at least that is what I found.
I guess depreciation has slowed right down now though. I was losing well over a £1000 a month in depreciation and stupidly doing near 20,000 miles a year.
I worked out my costs all in were £1700 pm. I could have bought a snotter and leased a gallardo at the time cheaper!
This was back in 2008/9 and car was 2007.
Edited to add that in my experience the warranty is worth it. Had M cars for 4 years and warranty claims were over £20,000
