Just purchased an 99 M3 evo smg

Wow,

Picked it up yesterday and can now understand what all the fuss is about with these cars. The power is amazing, and thats stepping up from a quick 328 sport.

It is certainley worth the money i must say.

Anyway, it has the smg gear box (yes i know its not everyones choice but it is mine) and i just want to know if this noise im getting is normal! When i sometimes open up the drivers door before starting up, i get the noise of like a pump going on for some time. Also when changing from say reverse to sport the noise comes again. I know the gear box sort of works with the pump, but what im trying to work out is why it does it when i open the door before starting??

Also is it right that when in sport mode and giving it beans i can keep my foot planted down and change up without having to worry about lifting off? I got it off a dealer who isn't to firmiliar with this gear box so he couldn't answer all my questions.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Ok brilliant, im just a bit new to the m3 so thought i'd ask.
