Hi all,

I am hoping to chop my 328 in against an new car and decided it need to be an M of some description but i'm torn!!!

My choices are E39 M5, E46 M3 or S50 M coupe.

So which one would you buy and why?

Edited LPG out as I want opinions on the cars not the LPG issue i can understand how an M running on gas would be wrong!

It won't be used as a commuter car fortunatly as I commute by helicopter smile (Work off-shore so not that glamorous!)

Cheers

Rob

Not at all slightly confused at your problem with it!!

LPG haf the cost of petrol and higher octane so can be mapped to produce more power biggrin

I know its not the purists view but in this day and age fuel is getting expensive although would probably only go down the LPG route on the M5.

Can someone give me some substantiated reason as to not put LPG in an M car?

My advice would be to buy the E39 M5, in Carbon Black, but then I'm biased.

Unfortunately I have to agree with everyone else with regards to the LPG issue. In reality there's probably no real reason why you shouldn't run an M car on LPG, other than it just doesn't seem right.

My advice, for what it's worth, would be to spend the £1,500, or what ever it costs to convert to LPG, to buy a small economical car for day to day running, and keep whatever M car you buy for pleasure use. That way, as well as saving on fuel, you'll also save on depreciation.

Chers for your reply I am more in favour to the M5 at the moment as its so practicle, for that reason it would be easier to keep longer.

Inderstand the LPG concerns perhaps i'll rethink that idea. I have edited it out of my original post so I can get people's opinions on the cars not te LPG issue!

Can you tell me abit more my main worry is how chuckable are they? I would like to do 2 or 3 trackdays a year, have heard the brakes need an upgrade which is not surprising as its no lightweight.

M5 is coming out on top surprised no one has mentioned the M3 as I assumed it would be a bridge between the M Coupe and M5. Am I wrong?
