Having just bought a new m3 i'm just wondering if anyone's managed to get theirs delimited? I'm going to be heading to bruntingthorpe at some point pretty soon and i wanna see how the new M3 compares to my old CSL without the intervention of any pesky electronics.
If anyone has any info it'd be much appreciated!

New M3 is INCREDIBLE!

Hey mate, am based around sudbury, suffolk. Am gonna give Thorney Motorsport and DMS a call tomorrow coz i reckon they might be able to do something. Also hear that DMS can knock the V8 up to about 450bhp... biggrin
Tempting

I do stick out maybe just a bit. Bit like you tho with that superleggera! CSL was immense, the noise, the poise and once i'd sorted the brakes the most devastating track weapon (had my bro's 996 GT3 licked round the track!) Have to say, although being extremely sad to see the CSL go after 4 great years the excitement and joy i'm getting from the V8's more than making up for the lack of a CSL. Feels much faster than the CSL somehow, especially once you hit those final few rpm! Laugh out loud fast and so versatile. The 'M' button's genius because the moment you see the road's a bit special you don't have to do anything, just simply press the button and the car's set up in maximum attack mode with DSC deactivated for some tail happy steering. AWESOME biglaugh
Also have to say there's nothing like having a proper clutch and gearlever, makes you feel much more connected to the action. This imho was the one grating problem with the CSL, if it'd had a proper manual it would've been the perfect car

Hey guys sorry it took me so long to reply, been busy (driving!) Firstly i would say that it's definately possible to go from e92 m3 to CSL, especially considering the fact that you don't need to hang onto it forever! If you buy one now and sell soon there's very little chance of losing any real money on the car because they hang onto their value so well. PLus imho they are a car that you HAVE to own, just simply for the noise they make (along with thousands of other reasons i could go on about for ages!) new M3 is much more comfy but as long as you dont mind less creature comforts, or for eg just keeping the car for occasional trips out on track and sunday drives and having something else for long motorway slogs.

If i were you i'd def have the car on the normal ps2s and not the cups, although the car did get that incredible 7.50 lap on the nurburgring the cups ruin the ride making it almost unbearable if you live anywhere remotely rural while the much more predictable, slower breakaway leads to far fewer lary moments on road and on the track. I for one had a pretty terrifying experience at Bedford of all places, because the point at which the cups break traction you're going so fast that the chances of a 'harmless' spin are greatly reduced!

Anyway hopefully i'll see you all soon at some sort of trackday, i'll report back on how the new car compares to the CSL on track (gonna have it's work cut out!!!)
