I know that prices have dropped massively for the E46 M3's but was considering changing mine for a new shape M5 (55/06) plate so thought I would see what was on offer from the dealer.

Was astounded when he offered me £16k for my car which he seemed to feel was the best price I would get - even privately!

Would not budge at all even when I pointed out he had an 05 CAB on his forecourt for £28k with more miles as well.

Spec is:

04/54
M3 CAB in Titanium Silver
SMG
Hardtop
Full grey leather interior
12,600 miles with FBMWSH
11 months MOT
3 months Tax
Close to a years warranty left
Tracker fitted
Next service not for another 12,500 miles
Two new rear tyres (1,000 miles)
Refurbished calipers all round so no rust
Stainless hoses
Sat Nav (DVD)
TV
6 CD Changer
In car telephone module (if you have an Ericsson phone!)
Heated + electric memory seats
19" wheels (no marks at all)
Immaculate all round apart from few stone chips to bumper and bonnet (approx 10 - 15 in total)

Surely it must be worth more than that?????

f*ck me I know they are there to make money and that is more than fair.

However when you offer someone £16k for their car and you have an almost identical vehicle (6 months newer) but with more miles for £12k more than you have just offered Joe Bloggs off the street - now that is taking the piss.

It's just been serviced, so even if they spend £1k putting on new front tyres and touching up the stone chips it stands them in at £17k.

Pretty sure it would be on his forecourt for £25/£26k ish a few days later and that is a mark up of £8/9k or more importantly close to 50%.

Ha ha, yes I should have said fine and I'll offer £39,995 for yours. My first thought was to headbutt him.

To be honest if he didn't want the car as PX (and he may well not have) he should have just said:

'They are not selling at the minute and I don't really want another one on the forecourt - sell it privately if you can and come back and we'll sort something out'

rather than

'Can I bend you over the railings and f*ck you up the rear whilst also charging you extortionate rates for servicing your butt'
