One of the Original 500 UK Supplied CSLs, this one was finished in stunning Ceylon Gold, a gorgeous period color. This car disapeared years ago, it is possibly in OZ.
It is believed that 55 odd cars were finished in Ceylon Gold, the 3rd most popular color after Fjord Blue and Polaris Silver ( 112 ) but it is now the rarest with only 5 odd accounted for.
Thought i would post these up from a wee shoot by Pete W the other week. https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Pete-W-Photograp...
The wife’s 1M, Brothers CSL along with a second CSL.

Pppppp, when you say " Alpina " do you mean Alpina modified ? Or Alpina add ons at a later date ?
Alpina did aparently modify aprox 5 UK CSLs, but it is thought that all have disapeared without trace.
I have seen that photo before, that Polaris silver one has been fitted with much later 16 inch Alpina Alloys a Bat CSL front wing splitters and the later Alpina type front spoiler. The original CSL front spoiler was a completely different shape, it fitted underneath the front bumper, BMW soon discovered that the CSL suffered considerable front lift at speed and benefited hugely from a front spoiler.
My CSL chassis no 130 was originally fitted with the early type front spoiler, I have a photo of it from Sept 1980 ( Old Motor article on it ) and also around 1984 and it still has it, but someone later changed it for the type shown in your photo.
