Just watched that too. God the noise. You can keep your mega high revving Gordon Murray T50 V12, this is the sound that makes the hair on my neck stand up. cool

I got to start it up and rev it. cool I was grinning so much my head hurt.

Honestly, it's been the highlight of my year so far - I have been a fan of these big Chevs for over 40 years, and this was the first 409 I had seen in the flesh. Even without the history it's a stunning car; I know people out there get a chubby over Nissan GTRs and RS 2000 Escorts but these big barges are my favourite.

I need an exhaust making for my Firebird - maybe I should straight pipe it, including the side exit. biggrin

Anyone notice over the years and the different sound of engine exhausts......I mean the musical sound of a well tuned A series, Ford 4 and 6 bangers and comparing with current ECU controlled engines......and even worse 4 valve heads how they sound so.......flattttttttttttt and uninteresting.......resulting in the laddo's installing fart, pop, bang systems to make some kind of noise......even the OEM manufacturers are in to it. Even most late model V8's, excepting perhaps Merc's just don't have the old school sound anymore......swapping quality sound for (in many cases) a nasty noise.

One of those electric bypass valves, for the best of both worlds.

It's more now because that there is very little induction noise associated with almost all modern ECU injection engines (unless running ITB's) but primarily because virtually all current engines are turbo'd, which by default is like fitting a large silencer into the exhaust system, which now has multiple cats as well, its only these silly fart pop n bang tune's that can create any sort of noise.....albeit quite nasty sounding ones.

Yes that's the only option if you don't want to be pulled or black flagged on a track day,

If i still owned the Firebird that's exactly what i would do.

Looking at the seats in that car.....I wondered if they were off a Camaro.......it appears someone, sometime has had a bit of a plastic obsession - T roofs look to have been covered in it too. Those tyres must be 'new' old stock. Perhaps very old 'new' old stock.

The mind just boggles with the amount of absolute pooh still being or more accurately trying to be dumped on buyers,

Nice one made me smile!!!

Quite like the idea of lower body in black - helps break-up the monotomy of resale red. GM did a two tone combo on C4's for a while and IMHO it can look good (to some people)
