Meh, having your back sweating on a black vinyl seat while your right shin is cooking against the transmission tunnel is all part of the fun isn't it? laugh

Also spoke to the lovely man at RPM, who built it. It is indeed a clone, so has no intrinsically high value as original. He's retiring, else he would have loved to have had it back for servicing.
I thought Martin's son would be continuing the business, as I thought he was working on the tools with his Dad already within RPM?

Why do 2 of them have white rear quarter panels or is that for the black graphics kit to be applied over?

That's right Leigh, it wouldn't be right any other way... had a quick run on saturday with ms. sidewinder, hot day, after 5 minutes our backsides glued to the seats with sweat, heat in the footwells from engine and trans, and I noticed the shift booth is not fixed properly, so track temp comes from underneath as well, backsides took a while to dry in the sun...
But all forgotten when shifting up or down and give it the boot
Even managed to park in a space not that much bigger and only a little bit embarrassing, still a chore though

The joys of betty swollox syndrome in a late 60's or early 70's era vinyl seats car........redcard

Its a memory from childhood in summer wearing short trousers, having to get into Dad's car onto burning vinyl seats.....and I won't it to be only a distant memory, and isn't to be revisited in old age laugh

My son always complained about sweaty bum while slowly cooking in his styrofoam seat twenty years ago...
Never mind, car had leather seats, we've been quite comfy...
Now I know what he meant!

Yep, hardtop for me as well.
Even they aren't the most rigid of structures, so what a floppy chassis vert would be like with an Elephant motor installed beggers belief, so I have no idea why soppy septics regard them as grail motors, other than rarity of course, but, they are rare because thankfully there wasn't enough soppy septics around when they were new to think it was a good idea to order one laugh

Glad we're agreed on the sweaty aris being part of the fun. hehe

At the risk of being called a heretic, I've got to say I'm not a big fan of the Cuda tbh.

Anyhoo, I made the most of a break in this crappy weather and took my Fireturd™ out for a spin tonight. Now I have rear springs that actually have some spring in them I've messed about with reducing the pressure in the air shocks. It's all relative, but it rides really well now. I've got some new gas shocks, so I think I'll get rid of the air shocks altogether when I get time. Even though these springs are supposed to be 1.5" lower than standard, it sits quite high and there's plenty of clearance over the rear tyres so I shouldn't get any arch to tyre issues anymore.

Just when I was on my way back, I stopped at a T junction and there was a young lad on a bike giving me a big grin and a wave. I gave him a thumbs up and hoofed it out of the junction and treated him to a one tyre fryer special laugh I looked back through the smoke and he was jumping up and down punching the air. Bit childish I know, but he loved it. biggrin

Took a few phone pics as well. Lovely evening for it.

Your 'turd looks business, really like the conservative wheels combo.
Everywhere you go in cars like this you get thumbs up, very gratifying
If only they knew the dark side...

A good many of the higher output, high torque big block powered muscle and pony cars of the day suffered quite severe body distortion and a seriously 'ragged' or drag raced car would often show a line of wavy dimples along the 'C' pillar region on the drivers side. My '71 429 SCJ 4.11 locker equipped Mustang had what I thought initially was a dodgy body repair. roof replacement.....but it was panel distortion from torque driven body twist.

He'll likely remember that for years to come, just like me from seeing and hearing that Cobra being given the big one not far from the old AC factory in Thames Ditton back in the late 60's, which was the first proper V8 I'd ever heard, and had me hooked for the rest of my life....

My first V8 experience as a non-car owning family child of about 5 or 6 years was a short lift with my mother in what must have been a 3 or 6 year old Ford V8 Pilot. Its smoothness, power and virtual silence set me up for larger luxury type cars for many years.......so much so that in the late 60's/early 70's (so some 15 years or so later a fairly well used V8 Pilot came up for sale locally. I obviously went to see it with full intentions to buy what was a dream car for me..........but it was horrible, asthsmatic, tatty and unpleasant to drive with an interior soundtrack similar to the noise of a E93A sidevalve Ford Pop or Reliant three wheeler on full choke..........(and it had tudors too many)
