I hate it when traders put POA.

It won't be cheap I suspect.
427 Ford Motorsport small block and 8 stack Borla injection will make it move quite well biggrin

Isn't this the Tornado GT40 that appeared in a mag or online article in the recent past?

Its quite a good replica of the scheme on Gulf VP Grady Davis own GT40 P/1049, which was the 'original' Gulf GT40 and the only one to wear Gulf's corporate colours, which the later powder blue/orange scheme cars owned and raced by the Gulf Team were technically the corporate colours of Willshire Oil Company, which Gulf had just bought out, but Grady Davis, Gulf's VP wanted to use instead as they stood out better.

There was a cheap one in those colours sold at Silverstones auction a couple of years ago ,without looking it up i'm

not sure if it was a Tornado ,think it sold for around £40K ,

The people selling this 427 car has another one for sale priced at £189,950 with the same mileage

fitted with a Roush 347 with Borla 8 stack injection in the later Golf colours .

Once you get into that price bracket you might as well pay the extra and have the one you want

rather than keep looking over your shoulders with regret .
Having been previously misinformed about the Superformance version, I'd be perfectly happy with a Tornado or AK Sportscars GT40 to my own spec, if of course I had the money to start with(!). A brand new factory built car with the looks and sounds of the real McCoy and good value compared to some of the modern super / hyper cars out there.

Ignoring the racing circles and stripes on this Gelscoe one, I really like the shade of blue and the look of the 15'' BRMs, all one colour rather than the polished rims that so many replicas have...

If that's a Gelscoe GT40, then its likely they are pukka repro magnesium rims, as the Gelscoe cars are effectively toolroom copies in every way and are FIA sanctioned IIRC. Isn't it Gelscoe that have all the old JWA original drawings for the GT40...??

Wicked looking machine,
The Stuff of dreams, I’ll never be able to own something like this so generally take very little notice
But this applies to all super duper stuff, good luck to those who can afford them as it helps keeps lots a skilled people in work and more importantly keeps the said skills alive,

But for me personally I’ve got to keep it real, nice to dream but tangible and affordable machines are much more interesting,

As to whether I’d protect my Ford or my lawn with lethal force is another story,
But the clips was cool !
Cheers Leigh hehe

Nice ,i didn't know Dax made a alloy body car, maybe one off, Will the 489 make the car nose heavy or is that a old wives tale,
Never had a Dax ,I had another Ram and a AK ,they were pretty good but not as good as my first one,
I'm presuming its a Dax - could be wrong, I'll ask him next time I see him.
Engine is similar spec to mine (but a lower stage of tune) - he has ally heads, inlet etc and stainless steel headers/side pipes.......so in reality (like my combo) only about 80 - 100 lbs more than a Chevy small block installation.
Mikes car is quick and with an all up weight probably 500 - 600lbs less than mine it should be far quicker........however even with wide grippy tyres he has major traction issues and can rarely 'floor-it' safely........

I really like the stripes and roundels especially on a dark colour, love the wheels ,they look perfect in that colour,

gives it a serious track look, I'd be just as happy with a well built Tornado ,AK or GTD i'd only buy a Superperformance

if i was wealthy enough not having to justify it to myself, Why spend £200K + when £60K/£85K will make you smile as much .driving

Agreed.

I think the Tornado is the best compromise, especially as they even do an option of a more original chassis, plus they offer the Mk.11 bodywork as an option as well.

Talking about GT40's there's a very nice but expensive Cav GT40 on Ebay,

500hp detuned to 400hp aluminium Bennett race engine on 48 IDA's

Quite a car .

Just read the full spec ,not so sure if it is expensive especially as there's a o.n.o on the end of the price.

whilst I love the look of and admire the GT40 I have never felt the need to ever own or even drive one.
I remember chatting to a friend who will remain nameless that recounted an off at the SPA 6 hour just exiting blanchimont two at night in the wet and hit oil. Whilst heading towards the chicane on the grass sideways, waiting for the bang and remembering each cill held a 70 litre fuel tank. Thankfully he did not hit anything and the car sorted itself out just before he arrived at the chicane and he continued. He said he would never race one again at the SPA 6 hour but did smile

Yep, a big pair is needed to hustle a GT40 in the wet on a fast track.......in daylight, bugger doing it at night eek

This infamous in-car of Kenny Brack wrestling Adrian Newey's GT40 around a wet Goodwood a decade ago, shows what a monster they are in wet conditions....he wasn't ever going in a straight line down the straights laugh

Watched a couple of in-car video's driving a blue white striped GT40 at SPA ,probably the 6 hour race ,the driver had a few hairy

moments ,at one time i thought it was the end of race for him but somehow he recovered it,

Another was a DK Engineering video at the Historic Le Mans in their GT40 reg 1 MUF with James Cottingham driving ,

looked scary especially the night racing , watched another one of their video's ,Tour Auto 2018 in the same GT40.

Historic tyres are naff in the wet, you could drive around the outside of someone in a road going Clio.

71 Camaro on C&C ending in 3 hours, currently at £11500, reserve not met.

Might be cheapish way of getting an early gen 2, given it's not mint, and certainly not one for the rivet counters. biggrin

Yeah you would. Because you’re used to old cars. Someone who’s experience of fast cars is a Ferrari 458 or BMW M2 would almost certainly bin it.

Kenny is on another level, certainly from me. He also has the highest ever recorded G-force peaking at 214g in his crash at Texas Motor Speedway. How the hell he survived is beyond me. Apparently Adrian Newey said that if he had seen Kenny's incar at Goodwood at the event he would have punched him in the face. Not best pleased.
I took a mate around Brands Hatch in the wet a few year back in the Mustang. Afterwards he said I just don't get this. They make you fit a safety cage, dated fire extinguisher, a seat and belts that have to be changed every five years, plus all the safety gear the driver has to wear in the name of safety and they make you race on tyres that in the wet have zero grip. That is just nuts.
He is not wrong really

Haha yeah maybe???
I guess we do use our bums as a type of traction control!!

I just had to put this up
Absolutely stunning looking piece of Art work

Even got side pipes yes
