I really couldn't pick just one......laugh

Later era muscle cars, it would be a toss up between a '69 Dodge Charger Daytona Hemi 4-speed or a '69 Camaro COPO 9560 with the ZL-1 all ally motor.

I'd need a million or so for either, likely more!!

Early era stuff, down to a choice between a '61 Impala 'bubble top' with a 409 and 4-speed, a '62 Pontiac Catalina with a SD421 and 4-speed, a '63.5 Galaxie 500XL fastback R-Code or a '64 Plymouth Sport Fury with a 426 Max Wedge......

Probably only need from 100k to 200k for any of those, so much more bargain basement laugh

I'm easy to please, a 68 Charger 440 R/T just like this would do me. I just need the money and a slightly longer garage...

^^ I only just saw one of these up close for the first time last year - it was a stunning car, had a real presence. A hemi powered one might tempt me.

Yeah, can't beat a '68 440 R/T Charger as that 'do it all' in one package choice.

As much as I love the later muscle era for the looks and drivetrain, I pretty hate the awful interiors that the yanks started doing after the 66/67 period, as they went away from the glitzy atomic space age era of design.....and sitting in one of those 50's thru to mid 60's era yank interiors is all part of the experience for me, and why I'd go early 60's rather than late 60's (as much as I love the later stuff)

Completely agree on interiors with you aero, but as you spend your time keeping your sweaty bum in place on the flat 'buckets' and the rear of the car and the steering inputs in check on every other occasion, you don't have enough spare time to feast your eyes on the 'safety dashboards' and ergonomic pleasure the late 60s brought to you.

My favourite muscle car of all time - 69/70 Mustang 428 CJ/SCJ with 4 speed..........

Stunning looking 428 Cobra Jet, last of the proper Mustangs in a great colour. ,

Graig Davis 's Boss 302 was up at the last day of practice for the Members Meeting at Goodwood on Tuesday

along with another 12 mustangs.

As aero quoted, "who said Muscle cars don't handle "

Back probably in the late 60's my mum and dad took me down to the Costa del Sol in their 67 Mustang ,

We parked it outside the cinema on the coast road coming out of Torremolinos were there was a showing

of British films that night ,

When we came out there was a 67 Charger same as this one advertised parked right next to our Mustang ,

These cars were rare in the UK let alone in Spain ,

We waited around to see if the driver may appear but there was no sign of him or her,

Shame as although not quite the right models as in Bullitt and with the coast road running from Torremolinos to Marbella

resembling Highway 1 on the Pacific coast in California thought it would be a exciting drive if the owner was going our way. driving

Another useless memory that seemed to have stuck in my brain ,think i would have been around 16 or 17 at the time .

Ultimate sleeper,
Even more of a sleeper, when a dual quad, 409/425 is bolted up to a M21 Muncie and then installed into a '32 Ford biggrin

- but they can.......and it often doesn't take a lot to do that. The '66 Galaxie 7 Litre I owned back in the 70's already had factory uprated springs and shocks.......'banding' the stock 5" x 15" rims up to 7" and fitting the (then popular) General E60 Scramblers, cutting a coil out of each front spring to stiffen things up a bit, and get the front-end down a couple of inches was sufficient.........given time get the car in the right position due to its size it seemed to easily out corner some of the smaller Camaro and Firebird pony cars of 'the day'......but who knows, perhaps they had crap tyres?

Its interesting to see the personal choice of 'car' we all have........looking at all of the cars mentioned, and yes......I'd have any of them in a heartbeat..........but think back. Given that in ones 'youth' (how ever many years ago that might have been) we perhaps initially chose something we may have seen, or been driven-in, perhaps a photo in a book or magazine.
My first car 'crush; came from a ride in a Ford V8 pilot, not very old (nor was I then) our family solicitor owned........it was so smooth, quiet and seemingly luxurious that I dreamed of getting one for many years after this..........some 15 years or so later when I went to look at one for sale I thought it was slow and horrible........kinda reminded me of a bigger version of a 100E Ford Anglia with all that side valve, unsilenced induction 'sucking' noise........a great disappointment!

Agree with you and sidewinder on that,

Remember coming from my 55 Bel-air to my 70 Challenger thinking slightly jokingly how i can graft a duke-box painted dash of a 55

replacing the formica imitation wood and cheap hard plastic of the Challenger,

Same happened going from a 65 Mustang to a 70 Mach 1,

I suppose same could be said going from 70's to 90's cars .

Whilst I’d agree the 409 is a weapon,
When fitted in a noddy car it just doesn’t have the vibe!
And the 60’s body shape isn’t really that great to look at,
Big car when seen in the flesh

Thanks Sidewinder, I think so too. The 68 Charger has always been a poster car for me, and just out of reach. When they were cheap I was skint, now they're silly money and I'm busy loading my pension so I can retire before I fall of my perch. laugh
